Become a MemberIt’s wedding season and so we are sharing lots of lovely DIY wedding decorations to keep your special day as unique as you are! These mini paper dress decorations are elegant and beautiful and can be used for anything from cake toppers to garlands to simple centerpieces. We made our little paper dresses using a combination of text weight paper (the mint and the blush) and polka dot paper which is a little closer to cardstock. Either way, as long as the paper you choose is no lighter than text weight, your DIY wedding decorations will stand beautifully all day long.
Simply Stunning
This is a very simple DIY whether you have a cutting machine or not. Download the SVG file, then score and cut on your machine if you have one. If not, simply print the pattern onto your chosen paper (the score lines will be marked so print onto the reverse side). Cut with scissors or a craft knife and assemble using our step by step tutorial below. We used a glue dot roller to assemble our mini paper dresses, but you could also use a hot glue gun. Either way, these are so easy to use and are mess-free! If you want to turn these paper dresses into a pretty garland for your wedding decor, simply glue a length of ribbon along the backs of the dresses – so simple.

Me encanbtó, necesitaba hacer un vestido para colocar en una caja, pero ya lo hice, pero me servirá para unas próximas mil gracias
You’re so welcome 🙂
Hi,
This is super cute! If I become a member, is there an additional cost to download this file? Would you consider this project to be difficult for a beginner?
Thank you! No, your membership fees include access to all our downloads. This is a great beginner project!
Really cute dresses, never thought that it would decorate nicely on cakes.
Thank you!
Hi Lia,
I would love to make these in twice the size as your template. How can I do that?
Please help!!
The best way would be to enlarge it on your print dialog settings, or take it to a copy shop and upsize it on a copy machine. It would have to go on 11×17 paper to be twice the size though, since the skirt is already pretty large on the 8.5×11 paper. The SVG file can be resized in Design Space, if that’s what you’re using 🙂
Help! I downloaded this adorable file but when I go to cut it the “score” lines are “cut” lines.
Hi Judi! You have to change those lines to “score” when you’re on the canvas in Design Space.
Help! Lia! The green dress pattern and the pink polka dot bodice page won’t print. The other pages did. I changed my toner cartridges and it didn’t help. By the way..I am new to your creations and I am IN LOVE!!!
Welcome Maureen! I’m sorry you’re having trouble printing these– I just tested the PDFs on my printer and didn’t have a problem printing, so it’s hard for me to know what the issue is on your end. You could try sending them to print at a local copy shop (FedEx Office or Staples?), or printing the outline on colored paper. I hope you can get it to work!!
Thanks for looking into this printing problem for me. Unfortunately I am still unable to print the pink or polka dot bodices for the dresses. I have tried printing from 5 different devices. Have there been problems printing with Apple devices? All I get are blank pages for pages 5 and 6. I hope I won’t have this type of problem when I am in the middle of one of your other exciting craft projects.
I’m sorry! We haven’t received feedback from any other members having trouble printing these templates. Be sure you’re printing the PDF from your computer directly, and not through a web browser.
Thank you very much indeed for sharing such a tasteful experience.
I am starting to use internet and start in viewing pinterest and other nice website such as yours.
My objective is to get as much time as possible (not easy at all) to learn poetic crafts to be able to teach to people who have to stay a long time in the hospital and to very aged persons to help them to look forward to the next day…. But honestly I have a long way to do but I am quite resilient.
I cannot yet afford to subscribe to your site (though it is not expensive) but will be contented to find some explicit templates.
Many thanks indeed for sharing your passion, because I feel it is passion for it is too great.
Jenny
Thank you for your comment, I’m happy to hear you like our projects! 🙂
It’s very very cute and adorable. I can make it my whole life☺️
🙂
So adorable! We don’t have a wedding coming up, so I will have to find another way of using these cute dresses. Thank you for sharing!
So glad you like them! One of our members used them for her granddaughter’s birthday party 🙂
Can these dresses be imported to Silhouette Cameo and be cut the Cameo? If so, how do I do it?
Mary
You can use our SVG cut files on the Cameo if you have the Designer Edition software! You will want to contact Silhouette’s customer service or look online for tutorials since it’s not our area of expertise 🙂
Hello, I just tried it in Cricut Design Space! It did a great job converting into the software however it cut the paper instead of scoring it. Is there anything else I can do to edit it. I am getting ready to try it in Silhouette studio now!
Hi! You have to select those lines in Design Space and change them to score 🙂
I love everything you make. I also appreciate everything you share with all us crafters.
In regard to the paper party dress, I feel it would be easier for all of us who dont have your expertise, to draw the fold lines on the template. This would make it easier for us to make the pleats come out correctly. Just a suggestion.
Thanks for your sweet comment Virginnia! The templates do include the score lines– they are very faint so they aren’t to obvious and might blend into the pattern a bit 🙂
Hi Lia, thanks for sharing. Love it. Only problem I have, is that I can’t download your templates, although I regularly receive your emails. Would love to make them for my sister’s granddaughter’s 16th birthday. Hope you can help me, please. Have a fantastic, creative day. Love. Wilhelmina
HI Wilhelmina! I’m glad you like these paper dresses 🙂 You actually need a membership to download the templates unless they are marked as Freebies. I am sorry for that confusion!
Beautiful of dresses, I wish them a long time ago, but I’ve never been able to see the tutorials. This year had decided it would not be without it, and behold, you put it at our disposal.
I think I’ll play, besides making a card for a friend, with my nieces to paper dresses. When I was a child, I played with this and want them to learn to do well.
They pass very well.
Thank you for being a blessing in our lives, much cheer me their ideas holiday, especially because I love to organize children’s parties.
I hope to recover to throw to them NOW.
Regards,
Carmen
Thank you so much Carmen!! Honestly, when I make my paper dresses, I rarely have an actual plan. I usually just play around with it until something gorgeous emerges! I think this is the best way to do it 😉
I made all three at three different sizes with some pretty modifications. I will post on facebook.
Look at you go!! Share photos if you get a chance 🙂
I am totally in love with one of my grand-daughter. I will write a love note on the inside of the dress and place it on her pillow.
I am positive she will smile. And go to sleep knowing the has a grandma who adores her.
Thanks for the tutorial.
That’s so sweet, Carole!
Beautiful dresses. Cheers and thankyou. Marilyn.
Thank you Marilyn!
So wonderful, would be cute for paper dolls also? Who designed this project? Is so incredible, love style and all colors. Thanks so much for sharing, love these dresses. Wish I knew somebody getting married, son in CA not getting married next month.
Have you seen new Cricut Gold and will you be upgrading? JoAnns already has it in store on sale.
Have wonderful rest of week Lia and team.
This was based off a design that I originally made years ago, and Krista added her “Queen of Cute” spin on it! I’m so glad you like it! I did see those gold Cricuts. I don’t think I’ll be getting a new Cricut right now, but they are very cute 🙂
These are super cute Lia!
Thank you!
