Happy Monday! I created the tutorial for my upcycled grocery bag fruit basket over a year ago for another blog. And since it is still one of my favorites, I would like to share it here as well.
I am still using my little baskets for photo props and to collect cards and paper clips on my desk. Yes, they are great for fruit baskets and they are also so useful to hold many other things. These baskets really are keepers and worth the time it takes to create them. So here you are, the full tutorial below.
Berry Baskets
Along with this upcycled grocery bag fruit basket, I’ve also created some other paper baskets in different sizes. In case you missed it, I made a smaller version with a handle for this Easter post. There is also another version of this Easter basket with a thicker handle.
Of course, you can use these baskets for many other things as well. And how cute would it be as a gift for someone with a fun treat inside? You could surprise someone with a few cookies—or even some paper flowers or a paper plant.
When you’re ready to craft this paper basket, just follow the tutorial below. And let me know how you decide to use it! You can always comment below or share pictures with me on Instagram and Facebook by tagging #MadeWithLia.

I used to make these in the 90s great to see the pattern come back, never used glue tho, used a shoe box and weaved paper with pins till it got started and firm bottom. Thank you again I will try it again. Glad I’m a member
Aren’t they fun? The shoe box method is a good one! So glad you have you, Linda 🙂
Molto belli. compimenti! Anna
Would love to use this amazing project in a round up for reusing plastic and paper grocery bags. Please let me know if it would be okay to use one pic with a proper credit going back to your site. Thank You!
Yes, thanks for asking! 🙂
Glad I went back thru pumpkin tutorial (Oct 2015) and comments as found the tutorial for this little basket. Way back in nether regions of this old brain remembered you had done basket for another project. Smart to create something we can use over and over, gotta love that. Be cute to make with patterned paper for a specific season. My old brain is slower but keeps on ticking with ideas to implement your excellent projects. I’m sure lots of very talented bloggers have thought of many ways to make these baskets.
Happy weekend
This is one of my all time favorite projects. I made it in three different versions. Search basket and you can see them all.
As much as I love this project, I am extremely bad with directions and am having a really hard time weaving the actual basket. Can you describe more in detail how to do so?
Try checking out these other two tutorials I have, they might help!

I fell in love with your baskets when I saw them last weekend (having been directed here from Paper Boutique). I just had to give them a go! Our bags must be a bit shorter than yours so I had to modify things – but DID end up with a basket! Thanks so much for sharing the instructions.
