The daily contest goes from noon MST until the next day at noon and the winner announced at 2:30pm MST each day on the Cricut Facebook page.
Today I wanted to share a little bit about what inspires me. I live in an adorable craftsman style house on the Southeast side of Portland, Oregon. (See my home tours here). The great thing about the Pacific Northwest is it’s diverse landscapes. One hour to the East we have the mighty Mount Hood which, at over 11,000 feet, is visible from many places around Portland. I will never tire of seeing it’s snow capped peak and being reminded of the power in nature. In contrast, we have the vast Oregon coast one hour to the West and my personal favorite, Forest Park just outside metropolitan Portland. At over 5,000 acres it too is a wonderful reminder of the beauty and power in nature and I bring a lot of that to my work. It’s no secret that I am inspired by flowers and I visit the flower markets of Portland as often as I can as well as enjoy the neighborhood gardens when I take little Enzo for a walk. Being a coffee lover, I’ll often sit for the afternoon in one of Portland’s great coffee shops and sketch out some of my ideas, thoughts and inspirations. There’s such a freedom in being able to take Cricut Design Space out and about with me since the release of the iPad app. It’s like having my own little ‘design studio’ in my handbag!
See more of my inspirations in this short little video that Cricut put together, then make sure you pop back tomorrow to be in with a chance of winning your own Lia Griffith TEAL Cricut Explore Air (pssst….the answer to tomorrow’s question is in the video!). Good Luck and enjoy! ~ Lia

Inspiration can happen anywhere and at any time for me. The other morning as I was waking up a thought popped into my brain of what I am going to make for my friend who is getting married in April. I love instagram and pinterest and gain much inspiration from the things other people create. I love photography and capturing something from a new perspective – challenge myself sometimes to take photos from strange angles just to see what I can capture. Currently I have one of the first generation cricut machines – it’s only 6″ wide and certainly limiting me on creating some things I want to make! This new machine is very exciting and I’m looking forward to making the upgrade. Thank you for sharing your creativity! I wish I had your job too!!! 🙂
Thanks for sharing your inspiration story Holly. You will love the new machine.
I enjoyed hearing about your surroundings. I too live in a beautiful part of the world, Pennsylvania. I look out my backyard and see Hawk Mountain, its beautiful. And when I sit outside its so peaceful. The beautiful natural sounds of nature, so inspiring to sit and think of new things to create.
Like you I am so in awe of these magjestic mountains, wish I could see one from my backyard:-)
My children are what inspired me to scrapbook!
🙂
I was an editorial assistant 20+ years ago for an agricultural magazine when one day at lunch with our staff, our editor, talking about finding story ideas, pointed to a ketchup bottle and rattled off 6 ideas to write about ketchup. I learned right then that ideas are all around us, from product labels to nature to Pinterest; anything can spark an idea if we open our minds to it. I’m now a freelance writer and have been a crafter since I was 3 and some days, I’ve got so many ideas floating around in my I feel like I’m going to explode!
What a great story, thanks for sharing!!
What camera do you use? I’m thinking of getting a new one and would appreciate suggestions. Your pictures always come out so nice!
I should get my Cricut within the next few days. I have never used any of these cutting machines before so it all seems a bit overwhelming. I hope it really is as simple as you make it sound. Also, are the SVG files you have available to download on some of your paper flowers easy to install?
Again, thanks for sharing your creativity and life with us!
I have a Canon 5D Mark II and LOVE it!!! Congrats on your new Cricut, I hope it is teal;-) It really is simple and now you can download all my svg files to use!!
This is the first time I vidited your views of your home. I was brought up in S. E. Portland. I love that city & still have lots of family there. I am also a huge fan of Cricut products for crafting.
I do love Portland, and especially the SE. Such a great city and people here are amazing!
Thanks for inspiring me to use my supplies in so different ways! It makes me feel good to know I’m getting more for my money!
LOVE to hear that!!!
I just came upon your website, and I am amazed. Your work is fabulous, and I am so excited to have found you. Now that I am subscribed, I am anxiously awaiting new post by you. I have been with cricut since the very begining, but I have to say, this new cricut explore air is fabulous. It took them a while, but they finally listened and have come up with the perfect combination in the cricut explore air. It is amazing how easy it is to design projects. As you said, if you can imagine it, you can make it.
