DIY Paper Gerbera Daisies
I have to admit that I find a great joy in inventing my version of paper flowers every week. Gerbera daisies are such a happy flower so it seems that this week I have a double dose of cheer.

I made these paper blooms with a variety of papers in text weight (anything lighter than card stock) that I purchased at paper-papers.com. Some are metallic and others are an uncoated stock. The centers of each bloom are finished with a glitter paper in either black or lime green which are two common colors for the gerbera centers. You can find all of the tools and materials needed listed on the right hand side at the top of this post – including links to our top-match paper picks from our shop for this project.
I have provided the pattern for both a printable template and an SVG file for all of you who do have cutting machines. Of course to save time so I can get onto the next project for you, I used my Cricut Explore to make this gorgeous bouquet. Once you have gathered your paper and materials, just follow my step-by-step tutorial below. Enjoy! ~ Lia

Where are the templates so that I can access them to see if I like this craft?
I am not seeing where I stated that this is a free template in this post. Can you send me the link to where you are reading that? We have a whole section of freebies on our site to choose from.
Is there a leaf for the gerbera daisies . I would like a svg just for the leaf. Do you use another leaf I can cut out to go with it that looks similar to the gerbera leaf

Hello, there is a small problem… I found these beautiful flowers on Pinterest and it says you have “free printable pattern”, but here it can get only members 😢😢😢

I’m trying to open this up in Silhouette Studio, it is saying that the file is not supported. How do I get it to work ?!
You’ll need the designer edition of Silhouette’s software in order to convert the SVG to a .studio file. Silhouette’s customer service should be able to help you with that!

I used my Cricut machine and it called for black paper and it cut like crosses out of those sheets and I don’t see them in the tutorial anywhere. What am I supposed to do with those sheets?
Hi Tracey, was it cutting the copyright information that’s included in the SVG file? That layer should be turned off before cutting the flowers.

Hi Donna! The paper pattern won’t work well with crepe but we do have a regular crepe paper daisy on the site (https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-daisy-video/). We will be posting a crepe paper version this summer.

Believe it or not, I used real leaves for this arrangement!
Lia, I’d be grateful if you could please clarify steps 8 through 10 in the gerbera tutorial. Did you use floral tape to attach a spray of 6 wires to the end of one 18 gauge floral stem, or did you tape six 18 gauge floral stems together and form a wire spray from their ends? The cup formed by overlapping the ends of the flower back piece doesn’t seem large enough to hold a spray of six wires, and the completed flower does not appear heavy or large enough to require six stems per bloom. As a novice, I appreciate your expertise and patience.

I put 6 wires together, then wrapped floral tape around the bunch, leaving some exposed at the end as shown in the photo. I then trimmed those the ends down to 1/4″ or so, just short enough to fit inside the green piece. The reason for the 6 wires is to create the same thickness as an actual Gerbera daisy flower stem, not because the flower is heavy. Hope that helps! 🙂
Hi I love Gerber Daisy’s they are my favorite flower. I clicked on this link from Pinterest. I’ve been a follower for a while. In the description it said free template but after clicking the download, it says requires a premium membership. Is there a reason it says free when it’s really not? Thx

Hi Lia love these gerberas though I cut them by hand , they are my favourite flower and I had them for my bridal bouquet. I find real ones droop so these are lovely as they don’t and I had real fun making them. I also made some of your hydrangeas and again cut the petals by hand, I found they used many more than the 60 to 90 you suggest but love the result and am looking forward to making more. You need a personal cutting machine like a Cricut Explore or Silhouette Designer version software to use the SVG files.
I cannot seem to get the svg to cleanly load in to cricut design space. The svg i was finally able to get into the software is not very clean and contained all of the header to the image. Did i download the file incorrectly? is there a easier way? would love the advice of a pro.
Hi Bristol, I’m sorry you’re having trouble! The SVG file is a couple years old, and since I create them a bit differently now (to exclude the header and logo), I just uploaded a new version. The rest of it looks great to me after I tested in in Design Space, so give this a try!

Each paper prints one flower, there are several different layers. If you look at the tutorial pictures it will make sense. Have fun crafting!!

I think these are going to be okay in card stock. It is the petals that have more curl that need the lighter paper. Give it a try and let me know how they look.

Most of this paper was from Paper Source and paper-papers.com. The succulent paper was from Michaels in their single sheet scrapbook area.

These are my designs so I did not use a cartridge. They will however be available in the Cricut Design Space very soon if you have the new Explore. Also, with the Explore you can upload the SVG I have here.
Hi Lia, I’ve downloaded the Gerbera SVG file but it will not open in Studio 3.The message is that the file may be corrupt. Anyone else had this problem?
I am not sure what studio 3 is. Is that for Silhouette? It is not corrupt but may not be compatible unless you are set up to use SVGs.
Yes, I’m having a problem too. It downloaded fine, but will not open with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Any ideas?
Sorry, I don’t know what studio 3 is. The PDF will open in Acrobat and the SVG is to open in the cutting machine software. They really are not set up to open in Illustrator or Photoshop.
