Copper Christmas Tree

We found all the crafting supplies for our copper Christmas tree at our local OSH. Download the PDF below for the full list of materials and check out our post on Orchard Supply Hardware for a step-by-step tutorial. The main material you will need is 1/2-inch x 10 ft. copper pipes. We used six pipes in total to create the cone shape of the tree. Feel free to do your own customizing here! Our tree is about 6 feet tall (including the 1 ft. tall copper bucket), but you can easily make a smaller or larger version. We were happy to find that Orchard has a great selection of tubing cutters so we could cut the pipes to size. Every Orchard store has a Workbench area, where you can go and have the experts cut your materials to size. And it doesn’t cost anything extra! If you are making this copper Christmas tree, you can make your way to the Workbench to cut six 5-foot copper pipes and twelve 1-foot copper pipes.

To string the the pipes together, we used 18 gauge copper wire. This is a great material to have around in general for other DIY projects! Follow our photo tutorial in the download to guide you through assembling the pipes together. Next, we attached a 3-inch metal ring to the top of the copper Christmas tree by wrapping it with wire. Hang it from your ceiling, rest it on top of a copper bucket and finish it off by wrapping the copper pipe in pretty string lights. Voila! An out-of-the-ordinary Christmas tree for your holiday home decor. Of course, our favorite part of the project is the amazing opportunity to work with your hands. This was truly a labor of love.

Stay tuned as we share our next two unconventional DIY Christmas tree projects, including our macrame and poplar wood tree and our kraft builders paper tree. We would love to see the projects you are making from our tutorials, so please share them with us on Instagram using #DIYDreamingWithLia. If you are making projects with OSH materials, let them know using #MyOSHProject. Cheers! ~ Lia and the Team
