3D Paper Star Wall Décor
How long do you like to leave your Christmas decorations up for? Today’s DIY idea is from my Cutting Machine Crafts book and it’s very versatile. You can use these 3D paper stars for Christmas, for your New Year’s Eve party, or as transitional pieces after the holidays. So whether you love holiday décor and want to keep it out for as long as possible, or you’re ready to switch it all out before January 1st, I think this project is perfect for you, no matter what you prefer.
I placed my 3D paper stars right above my mantel, but you could hang these anywhere on your living room wall. It’s just easier to pull together a wintery, festive look when you use your mantel as the focal point. As you can see from the pictures below, I kept some winter greens out on the mantel and added a few candles to create a cozy feel. It’s really quite simple and now I’m all set for the rest of the season!

Shine On
Another great thing about these 3D paper stars is that you can use them to add warmth to a room. We chose this particular color for that reason. But you can also create these stars in all different colors for all sorts of seasons, events, or parties.
If you want to craft your own paper stars, you can find this project in my book, Cutting Machine Crafts. Altogether, there are 50 DIY projects with instructions and 60 SVG files in the book to help you make seasonal décor, paper flowers, and more. Or, if you’re a member, you can download our starbursts template instead.
These paper stars are a very easy DIY décor project, but of course if you have any questions, I’m always happy to help!

I have a month old Cricut Explorer Air 2, and just like with a new baby, I am making one mess after another. I am hoping that with this membership and such a great teacher as Lia that I can connect to others who know lots more than I know and would be willing to help me untangle my projects. Having lots of trouble downloading files from others even when I buy them. Opening them up is not in my tool box yet. And most of the files I have bought are saved to zip files or file copy. Don’t understand how to unzip and put it in my download file as an SVG. Im just a mess…….Thank you for listening. Toni Hazeltine
Hi Toni! Thank you for reaching out. You’ll need to extract the SVG file from the zipped folder before you can upload it to Design Space. To do that on a Mac, double-click the .zip folder. If you’re using a PC, right-click the .zip folder, and select “Extract All”. You can then upload the SVG file to Design Space.
