HomeTourPorchDoorI love having a covered front porch on this 1920’s craftsman house and have been planning for a while to update it with fresh paint and some decor. I feel that porches and decks can be extended living space and enjoyed at least part of the year here in rainy Portland and that is how I wanted to decorate it, as a place to sit to drink my morning coffee or evening beverage with a friend. You may remember my post about how I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® to give a new look the to matching rocking chairs. With this being my main focus on the sitting area of the porch, I broke the space into two focal area, the other being the front door. The first thing that started my porch project was to prep and paint. My go-to paint is always Sherwin-Williams so I was delighted to find that they would team with me on my porch project and supply all of my paint and painting materials. I chose Emerald Exterior Latex in Satin Seaworthy #7620 for the door and trim and Porch & Floor Enamel Folkstone #6005 for the deck and steps. These colors were a similar match for what had been most recently painted but pushed the front door color a tad the direction of teal from the current Navy blue. Once the porch was power washed and prepped, the transformation was quick. As I always say. . . the fastest way to change a room is to update or change the paint color. That goes for covered porches too. For my decor, I only used things I already had in my house or had recently made, which gave me a fun afternoon of “shopping” my house and prop shelves.
