Crepe Coral Sunset Peony—Master Class Workshop
Crepe Coral Sunset Peony—Master Class Workshop
Golden Hour
Coral peonies seem to capture an entire sunset in a single bloom. Their petals move between saturated pinks, warm coral, and softer highlights, creating the kind of color that seems to change depending on where the light falls. In our Crepe Coral Sunset Peony Master Class Workshop, we'll recreate that luminous effect while exploring a brand-new peony design and a fresh approach to its foliage.

For this Crepe Coral Sunset Peony, we're continuing our exploration of double-sided crepe paper, using its contrasting tones to create variation throughout the petals. Also, as each layer opens, different shades emerge naturally, giving the bloom depth without relying on a perfectly uniform palette. At the same time, gentle shaping adds even more dimension, allowing some petals to curl toward the center while others relax outward into that wonderfully full peony silhouette.
Meanwhile, we're giving the greenery its own moment. In particular, This version introduces a new, more detailed leaf design that complements the scale and richness of the flower. By spending a little extra time on the foliage, we can create a stem that feels complete from bloom to leaf rather than treating the greenery as something added at the end.
Though all of the projects in this series are lovely, as our Master Class garden grows, the Coral Sunset Peony will become one of its boldest focal flowers. Pair its lush petals with the broad greenery of our Crepe Salal Leaves, then introduce the finer texture of our Crepe Lady Fern for contrast. Overall, each botanical plays a different role, and together they begin to show how variation in scale and texture creates a more dynamic arrangement.
Lastly, we'll bring the Peony, Salal, Lady Fern, Beautyberry, and the rest of our handcrafted stems into the Paper Flower Garden Arrangement Workshop. There, you'll see how a focal bloom this vibrant can significantly anchor a bouquet without overwhelming everything around it.
Until then, enjoy the color and the exquisite drama of this Crepe Coral Sunset Peony. And then, when you're all finished, be sure to share your beautiful blooms with us in our crafters' community and on social using #MadeWithLia.

Leave a CommentI used my Cricut to cut out the project but it didn’t seem to cut out enough,I don’t have any of the largest petals and I don’t have a printer available to me to cut them out my hand, anyone else have this issue?
For this flower, you will be cutting two mats of crepe paper for the petals. Before you start cutting, be sure to attach the grouped layers in Design Space. If you skip this step, Cricut will spread them out and move things around. You can review that step in the foundation series. If you are still having trouble, let me know. 🙂
Thanks that helped. I absolutely adore this peony. It was fun to make. Have you ever made hollyhocks?
I just added it to our list! We have a felt version.
What great new techniques. I love all the new ones we have learned in this Master Class. I was wondering what the yellow color double sided that Alexandra was speaking of. Tried to ask on the live but I am not the best typist, LOL! Thanks as always for all you do for us. I love all the new changes you have made.
That is what I thought you were asking about. 🙂 It was a color we stocked that sold out quickly. We reordered but the factory discontinued it, thought we will be bringing in a new yellow double-sided crepe.
Hello! Where is the SVG? I’d like to make along with you. Thanks!
Use the link to go to the master class, where you will find all the templates.
Since the strawberry and tulip crepe papers are not available right now, what colors do you suggest we use for the peony?
We will be restocking soon since we are moving our warehouse. I would use the Camellia extra-fins and create a double-sided with the fusible web. https://feltpaperscissors.com/product/camellia/
You have completely outdone yourselves! Between the book, the master classes, the refreshed website, the new store location and the videos. And you must all be exhausted! All are excellent. I would like to make this peony in yellow, my best friend’s favorite color. I made the earlier forsythia branch in an arrangement for her last year. Except for the Blick marker it would seem that it should work, do you think? If you agree what color marker? Thank you, thank you! And congratulations everything is wonderful.
Ohhh, thank you, Alexandra. On Sept 15, we will have a new shop site too! I have has such a blast designing it so I guess that gives me energy.
For the yellow peony, see if you can use the double-sided and color the crepe with the PanPastel. This flower is just stunning with the double-sided crepe. Of course, a heavy crepe will also look great. 🙂 For the marker, I would still go with the same pink color on those inner pod details. Or you can pick something in a more peach tone.
Thanks! I do have the yellow double sided so will look forward to using it.
And, for a change, I should be able to join at noon Friday! Doing my happy dance😊
Oh, yay!! And I am so happy you have the double yellow. PERFECT!
