Crepe Lady Fern—Master Class Workshop
M'lady
I love the soft magic of ferns as they move and sway through a garden. Their delicate fronds unfurl and spill into the spaces around them, adding softness without demanding the spotlight. In our Crepe Lady Fern Master Class Workshop, we’ll focus on that graceful movement with a design from Paper Flower Garden and discover just how much this quiet botanical can bring to an arrangement.

Unlike the broad leaves of our Crepe Salal, our Crepe Lady Fern creates texture through repetition. For instance, each slender frond is lined with delicate leaflets that gradually taper toward the tip, giving the finished stem its feathery silhouette. Additionally, as we build each one, we'll focus on shape, spacing, and gentle curves that keep our paper foliage from feeling too rigid or uniform.
Once you begin arranging the finished fronds, those details really come to life. Let some stems reach upward while others bend outward or fall gently to the side. In fact, you can gather several together for a beautifully understated foliage arrangement or use individual stems to soften the edges of a larger floral design.
You'll see this idea beautifully illustrated in our Crepe Lady Fern as it helps draw the arrangement outward and downward. Rather than filling every open space, the fronds extend beyond the denser botanicals and create a sense of movement around them. It's a wonderful example of how the shape of an arrangement can feel just as expressive as the flowers inside.
As our Master Class comes together, we'll combine the fine texture of Lady Fern with the broader Crepe Salal Leaves and lush Crepe Coral Sunset Peony. Then, during our Paper Flower Garden Arrangement Workshop, these stems will join the rest of our handcrafted garden as we explore how contrasting shapes, textures, and scales work together.
When you're done, don't forget to enjoy letting these fronds wander. After all, a little curve here or an unexpected angle there can make the entire stem feel more alive. Finally, share your finished Crepe Lady Fern with us in our crafters' community and on social using #MadeWithLia.
FAQs
How will Lady Fern be used in the final Master Class arrangement?
We'll combine it with the broad Salal Leaves, Coral Sunset Peony, Beautyberry, and the other Master Class botanicals during our Paper Flower Garden Arrangement Workshop, where its delicate fronds will help add movement and soften the overall composition.
Can I display the Crepe Lady Fern on its own?
Absolutely. Gather several stems at varying heights for a simple foliage arrangement that lets the shape and texture of the individual fronds take center stage.

Back to the TopIs the only way to make these ferns doing the whole masterclass first? I’ve already completed another masterclass and was hoping to add more greenery to my repertoire, but I can’t access the templates.
You can mark the complete button on the ones you would like to skip to advance to the fern. You might also like the Salal we are sharing today, and I am currently doing a series of greenery/foliage to add more options. 🙂
Excellent, thanks!
Also, what time is the class? I only see that it is 60 minutes, but not when it starts.
We start at noon Pacific Time.
I do not see the template. I see that it is in your book, but when I print it out part of it gets cropped by the printer. I was hoping there would be a separate template here for your Master Class.
Use the link to the master class. All of the templates for this class are there, both the PDF printable and the SVG. 🙂
