Regulars will know that paper flower making is top of my crafting passions. It’s something I adore throwing myself into and I get such a kick out of creating something beautiful out of nothing but a sheet of paper or two – swooooon! I like to try my designs in different papers and am always surprised by the way a paper flower can look totally different depending on which paper you use. There are always little tweaks I have to make, either to the design or the tutorial in order to get it looking just right, but for me that’s part of the fun.
My paper anemone is the perfect example. I have made this beautiful bloom in felt, metallic paper, water color print paper and tissue paper and each has such a unique quality to it. To round my anemone designs out, today I am sharing the crepe paper version. To make this newest version of my paper anemones, simply download the pattern at the foot of this post and then follow the tutorial below. Use a good quality crepe paper. You will also need a low temperature glue gun, scissors, floral tape and floral wire. Hi Roxanne, we typically use 3/4 inch foam balls for the centers of our flowers but you can also roll scraps of crepe paper into a ball and use that instead. Enjoy!
lovely…what type crepe (weight) did you use for these anenomes?
If it is crepe from Carte Fini they sell 3 different weights/types and
wondering whether this is one of the floral heavy weights or the lighter 60 grams
or…..And also what type crepe for the green and black or are they the
same weight as the petals crepe? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Annie! For this project I used the 180 gram. However I do prefer the extra fine crepe paper for flower making. If you try you will definitely notice the difference. Extra fine crepe hasn’t been available in the US market but will be sold on Amazon starting in June under the Lia Griffith brand!!
do you think these would would on a larger scale just by enlarging the petal pattern?? want to put some on the wall of my nursery…thoughts?

Thank you so much for this (and all of the other) lovely tutorials you provide. I would love to make these for my wedding (which is, um, in a week…)– do you think I could adapt these for place cards? Also, do you know how many sheets of crepe paper are needed for the petals of one flower? Thank you again. You are brilliant!
You can make at least a dozen flowers per roll of crepe. I think they would be adorable for place cards. 🙂
