Ornamental grasses have become very trendy in home décor. And we’re on board! There are a lot of options out there to choose from, but we’re currently loving the fluffy, feathery look of bunny tails. Our designer Meagan made these crepe paper bunny tails for our studio a few days ago and we have been so excited to share them with you! We’re also going to show you how easy they are to make, so scroll on down for the tutorial.
Love at First Blush
The soft, gorgeous texture of these crepe paper bunny tails has all of us swooning! We decided to use our extra-fine crepe paper in blush for these bunny tails, but you could also make them in white, ivory, or cream for a more traditional look. However, there’s just something so sweet about this pink color! It’s soft, feminine, and flirty, but it’s also a great neutral that works well with a lot of different colors and styles.
When it comes to styling your crepe paper bunny tails, you can gather a bunch of them in a vase and place them just about anywhere. They’d look lovely on a dining room table, in your entryway, on a mantel, or on your nightstand.
You could also pair your crepe paper bunny tails with other faux flowers or plants. In our picture above, we styled them with our paper and felt eucalyptus wreath. And further down, we put a couple of bunny tails in a smaller vase with our felt eucalyptus.
Another idea is to use these crepe paper bunny tails in your wedding décor. If your wedding style is boho chic or you want to create a romantic and intimate vibe, these soft pink bunny tails would be perfect! We would love to see what you do with this DIY project, so remember to share your pictures with us on our Facebook page for members. Or use #MadeWithLia when you post pictures on your social pages.

Hello, the bunny tail SVG would not download for me so I printed the template. I measured the template and created it in cricut (because it’s easier to use the cricut.) It definitely doesn’t look as full as the ones in the picture. I think I will be cutting a larger/wider piece to make it look similar to the one pictured.

Is it possible that you have your computer set to not accept downloads? I just tested it, and it seems to work.
Hello- I am working on putting together the Thanksgiving centerpiece and I just cut out the bunny tail SVG pattern with my Cricut. As mentioned by another person above in her message it is not what your photo tutorial shows….your strips in the second photo with the fringed edges are clearly much wider than the SVG. It would be great if you could update the SVG to reflect the correct size for cutting. Thank you! Coleen Barnes
Hi Coleen, we double checked the SVG file against the bunny tails and it’s correct. I think the size might be a bit deceiving next to the mini glue bottle and the mini scissors?!
Trying to make these. Is one strip equal to one bunny tail flower, or are they supposed to layer? Mine DO NOT look nearly as full as yours and the base definitely doesn’t. I’m assuming they should not be tightly wound? How are they glued? I have lots of questions! Thank you for your help.
Hi Allison! One strip is one bunny tail, and you do want to wrap them fairly tight so the crepe lays nicely. If you feel like one strip is not full enough for your liking try using two!
Thank you Lia for your advice!! I will try again this weekend. Felt like maybe I needed to cut the strips a lot thinner too, maybe I was cutting too big of pieces as the fringe.
Yeah the fringe is pretty small and delicate!
