Crepe Paper Checkerberry Branches Video Workshop
Crepe Paper Checkerberry Branches Video Workshop
Berry and Bright
While they may not be terribly well-known by name, Checkerberries are one of those plants you instantly recognize when you see them. Their deep green leaves and glossy red berries bring an immediate surge of winter cheer to any arrangement — nature’s very own holiday decoration! With this next project, we’re crafting lifelike Crepe Paper Checkerberry Branches to display on their own or combined with other handmade flora for a stunning seasonal display. Catch this project live on Friday, November 21, where Lia and Meagan will show you how to sculpt each leaf and berry as part of our Crafty Wonderland 2025 Live Holiday Workshop series. So, grab your tools, materials, a mug of hot chocolate — and get ready to meet us there!

During this Crafty Wonderland workshop, Lia and Meagan will also show you how to make our shimmering Crepe Paper Pinecones, creating a stunning pairing with your Checkerberry Branches. Together, these two projects offer a vibrant mix of color and elegance — adding rich seasonal tones and simple, nature-inspired details to your winter display.
What makes this project so satisfying is the transformation that occurs as you build your branch. You begin with simple strips of crepe paper, and as you stretch, twist, and assemble your pieces, you'll see a form emerge that looks plucked straight from a crisp winter’s day. Showcase a single branch in a vase for a minimal, modern look or gather several together for a lush holiday arrangement. You can also tuck your Crepe Paper Checkerberry branches into wreaths and centerpieces for a truly festive showstopper!
As always, your creativity is what brings our designs to life, and we can’t wait to see your take on our Crepe Paper Checkerberry Branches. We’ll see you here on Friday, November 21, for our Crafty Wonderland Live Holiday Workshop, or check out the replay after. Whichever you choose, just don’t forget to share your finished project with us using #MadeWithLia. Let’s celebrate the beauty of handmade holiday décor together.

Back to the Topwrapping the wires together the supplies says fern, but it looks more like green tea on line?
Yes! That color was originally called green tea, and for some reason (which I can no longer remember), we changed it to fern. You can see it here in the original long-sleeve crepe. https://feltpaperscissors.com/product/lia-griffith-crepe-paper-extra-fine-green-tea/
Just finished watching the last Crafty Wonderland videos and they were amazing! I am definitely going to make the berries to add to my white Lilies & Red Anemone centerpieces. They will be going into paper sleighs and will definitely send a picture of the finished projects. Loved all the Crafty Wonderland videos! Thank you!
I love hearing that, Susan! And I look forward to seeing your finished project. 🙂
I think Step 6 is supposed to read, paint with Mod Podge.
You are correct, thank you for catching my mistake!
What color pan pastel did you use on the leaves? The tutorial states to put it on one side of the leaf but does not indicate a color. These are so pretty, cannot wait to make them to adorn Christmas packages or to put on a holiday table
The red! 🙂 I know… unexpected, right? Hope you can join us for the live workshop for this project.
Working on these today and adding fir branches to them. Thank you!
Love! Hope you will join us for the workshop too! I am sure Meagan will have some great tips.
