   Hi there – I’ve made the peony and the leaves but there wasn’t any instruction in the video on how and where to attach the leaves? Have I missed something? Would really appreciate some guidance or a link to written or photographic instructions if there are any. Many thanks, Leah

      Hi Leah! This is an oldie (but goodie), and I’ve since added it to the first paper flower master class. Since this is only available to Craft Circle members, I have added that video here for you. Note that I use double-sided for the leaves in this version. You will find this video at the end of the post and it is called “Making Larger Flowers”.

   I am trying to make the crepe paper supreme peony. I purchased the bundle. I also watched you on you tube. The directions are not the same nor are the crepe paper requirements the same for either one. I have no idea which instructions I should follow.

            Hi Amy, it is two different versions of the peony, yes. I do not understand what you mean when you say that only one petal is showing. Can you give me more details? When I look at the file in Cricut Design Space, I am seeing all of the templates.

      It is hard for me to know without seeing your flower. Are you using heavy crepe paper? Is it our brand or a different one? Are you stretching the crepe to create a cup shape?

   I guess I’m confused as how to duplicate just the petals enough for the flower. Example, I don’t need to duplicate stamins as many as petals.

      Ok, good. When you place the template into the Design Space, there is a list of layers on the right. That is where you hide the design notes you do not want to cut. Simply hide the other layers you do not want to duplicate, then click the “make” button. This will bring you to the mat, where you can increase how many sets you would like of those pieces. Does that help?

    Hi,

    Thank you so much for the video tutorial! I carefully followed all the directions, but my peony doesn’t have that signature cupped shape. Is there any way that I can fix it? What am I doing wrong, lol?

       You can slide your fingers into the flower with your thumbs inside the cup and give it a bit more of a gentle stretch.     I absolutely love these! I did mine in the orange colors, and added the blush pastels, they are gorgeous. I fix my pastels with hairspray, of all things, works great. Use what ya got, lol. Loving these flowers. Thanks ladies!

    When I download the svg file for my maker, it doesnt show all the petal repeats….. just one petal in each size. is this a glitch?

       Hi Shelly. This is not a glitch. You can multiply the petals in Design Space and cut as many of each as you like.

       That usually means the file has not been unzipped before uploading. On a Mac you double-click the .zip file to extract the .svg, and that’s the file that needs to be uploaded.

    I love the flowers but am having a hard time finding out how much to enlarge the PDF pattern or what size of paper to print on. The default size is much smaller than what is shown in the video.

       Hi Belinda! You do not have to enlarge the PDF. Just make sure you are printing at 100%, on 8.5×11 paper.

       We used heavy crepe since it holds the structured petals much better, but you can certainly try it with extra fine and see what you think!

    Hi Lia, love your tutorials. Have just made the peonies and have had a lot of good comments on them. I use Italian crepe paper and when I used the mod podge on the leaves the underside turned blue. Is your crepe paper colourfast?

       We have never had our green crepe paper turn blue from mod podge, our paper is not colorfast and darker colors may bleed some when wet.

    Is the Heavy Crepe paper and the Double Sided Crepe paper basically the same thickness?

       Hi Darlene,

       Heavy and double sided crepe are very different, Double sided is two pieces of extra fine fused together it is very smooth with out much stretch in comparison to heavy crepe paper which is very textured and has a lot of stretch.

       Hi Vaidehi,

       For the Peony center you will cut the rectangle shape before stretching, then you will stretch the rectangle the proceed to use pinking sheers on one edge, then fringe the same edge.

    In response to sticking flowers into cakes, you can buy something called a celpin from cake decorating shops. These are used to stick sugar flowers or real flowers into cakes so they don’t get contaminated. Hope this helps and apologies if someone has already answered this.😀 Gill – Oxfordshire, UK

             We stuck the (unwrapped) floral wires right into the cake, BUT I will admit it’s a prop cake 🙂 For a real cake, you will want to avoid having the crepe paper touch frosting (it will likely absorb all the moisture and ruin the flower– and that slice of cake!) I’d recommend a barrier of some kind between the flower and the cake– a piece of cardstock paper, saran wrap, or real greenery.

       Hi! The PDF pattern lists the exact petal counts for each size petal, so you should follow that to make sure it’s correct.

    I am using my new maker to cut out peonies from heavy lia griffith crepe paper. Even if set it for more pressure, it does not cut cleanly. it will cut the full outline correctly, but some areas of the line are not cut. i am using the pink matt and rotary blade. what am i doing wrong? thank you

       So sorry to hear of your troubles! We usually try the Cotton or Denim settings when cutting the heavy crepe. Have you watched my Tips & Tricks using the Maker video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91IyqbcFQzk. There are more helpful tips there.

       Hi Rebecca! Yes, you can make your own by wrapping an 18-gauge floral wire in floral tape a few times to get the same padded thickness. We’re going to add a video tutorial for this soon!

    HI, I use this pink crepe paper on different project and the paper turn out almost white ,there is a way to preserve the original color.

       Oh no! The lighter color crepe papers tend to fade easier in direct sunlight, so just make sure they’re kept out of light. We recently discovered a matte fixative spray that has a UV coating that we’re going to test (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00397STRW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

    when I click on the svg file and it goes to my downloads folder on my Mac, It is not a folder. When I double click the file in the downloads, the file opens right up. I don’t see anywhere or anything to extract or unzip. It’s not a folder when I get it. If I double click the svg file in my download folder, the files are right there on my screen, flower parts color coded and all the pieces. Your directions say I’m downloading a compressed file, but it’s not zipped when I get it. Not sure what’s wrong at my end. Thank you for any help on this.

       Your computer may be set to automatically unzip folders after it downloads. You’re able to see the SVG file without any issues though?

    Hi. These flowers look beautiful. I have everything ready to make some – except the pan pastels. I’ve been everywhere near me today looking for them but they aren’t available. What would be a good sub? I could use chalk pastel sticks and a dabber but I feel like the colour would smudge everywhere. I have watercolours?? Ink pads and dabbers?

    Hello. I downloaded the SVG of this peony and it is kind of strange. It is very spread out on the preview in my uploaded files and in design space. It just doesn’t appear sized correctly. I also noticed this about the hibiscus SVG. I haven’t cut them yet but it is making it more difficult to work with the images in design space. I am not sure if it is just the way I am saving them or something with my iPad. All the other SVGs I downloaded in the last couple days are okay though. Do you have any suggestions? I am starting a huge project and I like to have everything designed before I cut. I am just trying to figure out if this is just how these two look before I spend a ton of time in design space working with them to get the correct number of petals, etc. Thank you!

       Thank you for letting us know about this! Everyone once in awhile we experience a glitch in Design Space with our SVGs– the file always looks fine on our end so it’s hard to pinpoint what the problem is! Both have been fixed though, so please download again and they should be fine 🙂

    I may be confused. When I launch the svg in my Cricut design space, the yellow portion shows 8.5″ x 42.5″. That doesn’t seem right. Thoughts?

    Hi, Love watching the live video, and I love the peony. I’ve just gone to download the SVG cut file and for some reason, the stamen is gigantic and not rectangular shaped. It’s like there is a bug in the SVG. thanks
