Crepe Meadowlark Forsythia—Master Class Workshop
Crepe Meadowlark Forsythia—Master Class Workshop
Forsythia in Flourish
Spring practically announces itself each year with beautiful, effulgent forsythia. Similarly, our Crepe Paper Forsythia Branches capture that same bright energy with airy stems, delicate blooms, and beautiful vertical movement. Featured in our new book, Paper Flower Garden, this project also serves as the very first flower in our new Paper Flower Garden Master Class series.

These Crepe Paper Forsythia Branches offer a wonderful introduction to branch building, flower placement, and natural movement within an arrangement. Additionally, our accompanying video workshop offers an opportunity to work together as you learn new techniques and master skills to take with you to other projects. We want this flower series to be more than a fun crafting challenge, but also a place for you to build community as you create.
And though these forsythia branches may look difficult to create, this project is surprisingly approachable once you settle into the rhythm of the blooms. Using heavy crepe paper, you’ll shape each four-petaled flower directly onto the stem while gradually building fullness and variation along the branches. Additionally, subtle differences in openness and placement help each bloom feel organic and true to nature. Lastly, the lightweight structure makes these stems especially versatile for styling throughout your home.
One of the things we love most about these Crepe Paper Forsythia Branches is their ability to brighten an arrangement. While fuller flowers often provide volume, these graceful stems create height, energy, and movement instead. Consequently, they pair beautifully with statement blooms and softer garden flowers alike.
As the opening flower in the master class collection, our Crepe Paper Forsythia Branches lay the groundwork for the projects ahead. Soon, you’ll continue exploring color variation and painterly detail with our Crepe Paper Apricot Lemonade Cosmos before eventually moving into the lush abundance of our Crepe Annabelle Hydrangea.
Once your branches are blooming beautifully, share them with us in the crafters’ community and on social using #MadeWithLia.

Leave a CommentHi! How many branches will be in the final arrangement?
You can make 1 or three. I added the “homework” to the end of each video.
Lia, I am so sorry but it has been an awful week and now I can’t find the download for this flower. My brain may be addled, my husband had a bad fall and was hospitalized and after his release he had to go into the hospital again for 6 hours of tests. Please let me know where to find the download because I would really like to make the forsythia.
Thanks
PS: I ordered your book and am so excited to get it. I will have three of your books then.
I am so sorry to hear about your husband, Sharon. Send him our love.
For the master class flowers, you can find everything in the full master class. You can see a link to it in the left column. You will also find the videos over there as well. No worries about forgetting. I totally understand. 🙂
Enjoyed the class. I think I’ll follow along with all of them. Appreciate your generosity.
We are so happy you are here in our community. 🙂
What a great class! I really like the ability to pause. I can actually stay caught up with Lia! Thank you.
I LOVE hearing that!! Gorgeous stems are abundant. 🙂
What if I missed the live video?
You will have full access to the replays here in the master class. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/tracks/paper-flower-garden-master-class/
I am so loving the Friday Flower Classes, and can’t wait to make the beautiful Forsythia! I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere, but how much should I pre-stretch my nectarine crepe for the petals?
No worries! No pre-stretching needed for this project. We will save that for the Cosmos. 🙂
I am SO excited about this one! I’ve had a forsythia love affair since I was young. We had several bushes in my childhood home garden in Maryland. I live in SE Texas now so it’s not as common to see. Thank you!
Oh wow! Love this story. I am now on the lookout for Forsythia in Oregon. I wish I had more room in my garden. lol
Hello Lia,
So we won’t be able to precut our paper before the class? Love this idea, though I always come prepared to make along.
The templates are there for you in module 2 of the master class. Just pop over there to download, plus I left a new intro video as well. 😉
Hi there,
I was wondering about the templates also, they are still locked, unless I’m looking in the wrong place. I can’t wait to get started on this!!

You need to go through each lesson module. Once you do, you can click the “mark complete” button, which will take you to the next level.
I always learn something new when I watch or rewatch your flower videos (finished the Foundation Series) and upgraded the quality and look of my flowers when I switched from cardstock to crepe paper thanks to your guidance.
Thank you for taking the time to provide amazing detail, it really helps. Looking forward to the Master Classes.
We are so happy you are here in our little community, Cheryl. 🙂
Watched all the foundation series videos even though I have been a member for years. Amazing how after all this time you can still learn something new. Loved them all thank you.
I love hearing that they were useful! We are always learning too. 🙂
when do we get the template to cut out this flower to be ready for the class
We will have those ready later today. 🙂
Just finished my first branch. They are wonderful – love this. Thank you!
I LOVE hearing this!!
Hi Lia, the video doesn’t play, it keeps loading only.
I think it is because your internet is slow. Seems to be happening to all of us.
Is there a video tutorial on putting together a branch? I’m better at copying rather than making it up by myself. Love this and am in the process of making them.
Hi Dottie! This would be a good video for sure. We do not at this time, but the photo tutorial gives some details on how to form the branch.
Yay!! I can’t wait to try this. I love forsythia!
It adds such a glow to the arrangement. 🙂
I love forsythia, simply because it means spring is here! All those tiny petals and leaves look a little daunting, but I’m going to make it anyway. 🙂 That bright yellow is just so cheerful!
I think they are so worth it! A big color punch with little teeny flowers. 🙂
