Magnolia flowers and leaves make such beautiful home decor. I loved the softness of the crepe paper magnolia flowers on my holiday tree last year and feel that the leaves make gorgeous year-round decor. And you can also glam them up a bit to give them more of a holiday feel, as Meagan did with this crepe paper magnolia leaf wreath. All you need are a few metallic accents!
This is a simple enough template to cut by hand. Or there is always the option to use your Maker or Cameo 4 if you prefer to use your cutting machine.
Get glossed up
Ever since we created a new mini course for making double-sided crepe paper, we’ve been eager to try it out on more projects. So this crepe paper magnolia leaf wreath gave us a great opportunity to try out this technique again with some different colors. Along with the small pops of espresso and copper colors in our crepe paper magnolia leaf wreath, we love the glossy sheen that Mod Podge gives the dark green leaves.
Adding the different colors of brown and copper also gives the wreath some nice variation. This is something you can play around with when making your wreath, or you could even decide to do gold crepe paper instead of copper.
Skill level: Intermediate
Crafting tips: Before beginning this project you will need to make your own double-sided crepe paper using Olive + Espresso extra fine crepe and Olive + Copper extra fine crepe. Need help with this? Watch our mini course on how to make your own double-sided paper using the lamination technique. You will need four w11″ x h9″ sheets of each colorway for this wreath.

So beautiful! How many leaves did you make in the end?
I just went and counted. . . 45 leaves! 😉
Can I use Heat n Bond instead of Stitch Witchery to make my own double-sided crepe paper?
Thank you!
Yes, you can! It is the same product, a different brand.
Lia, I do not want to sound cheap, but I do love your crepe projects. All of them, but I have not been able to justify any of your projects because the paper is simply too expensive and so is the shipping. I generally look for other sites to buy the material. Actually, I am traveling abroad in January and will be looking for crepe paper there.
Whatever works for you. My goal is to get you crafting no matter what materials you use. 😉 We do work hard to source the best materials and if you go to our shop you will see that you can get both free US shipping on orders over $60 as well as craft cash bonuses for every dollar you spend. Also, you might want to watch our video on crepe paper to understand the different types so you know what to buy when you are looking elsewhere. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/10-things-you-will-want-to-know-about-crepe-paper/ Happy hunting!
Thank you, Lia – I just downloaded the SVG files and didn’t look at the pattern : )
How many leaves are on the wreath, total?
Hi Rebecca! The pattern tells you how many total leaves to cut and in which color.
I always love Meagan’s magnolia leaves. They are so satisfying to make. I can’t wait to make this gorgeous wreath!
This is a keeper too. I feel it can be used year-round.
