If you’ve been with us for a while, then you know how much I love a nice big tote bag. A tote is great for hauling your crafting materials, books, and just about everything else — but not every occasion calls for one. Sometimes it’s nice to just grab your phone, wallet, a tube of chapstick and hit the road. For those times when only the necessities are necessary, this Crossbody Macrame Mini Bag is perfect.

Like many of our macrame projects, this requires very few materials and is pretty simple to complete once you get a feel for the knots. If you need a refresher before getting started, we suggest checking out our Macrame mini course. When you’re ready to craft this adorable little bag, take a look at our tutorial below.

Micro Macrame

We’ve designed quite a few macrame bags over the years here at Lia Griffith, including this cute handbag and purse. However, this is our first-ever crossbody bag and we couldn’t be happier about how it turned out. Style and convenience? What’s not to love? Pair this cutie with a sundress and sandals for an effortless weekend look, or throw it over a t-shirt and a pair of jeans for a quick run to the store.

This project comes together simply and beautifully with only a few tools and materials. We used a natural-colored 4mm Macrame cord for our mini bag, but I think this would look pretty in a soft, pastel color as well. We added 16mm beads to our bag for a bit of decorative flair, but feel free to leave them off for an even more minimalist look.

Show us how you styled your mini bag in our crafters’ community or on Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia!
