Become a MemberThere is something very nurturing about having a covered front porch. It is that extra living space and where guests and my team are greeted everyday. I love to give it a little update for each changing seasons and especially for the holidays. Here is my original porch and last year’s Fall update that we did with Michaels stores. This week I made way for the Fall and prepared to embrace the colder weather that is on its way. I fell in love with these embroidered pillows at Target recently, the color palette is divine, and decided to build my front porch decor around them. The palette of rich marsala, burnt orange and grey will warm even the coldest of days and they compliment my Annie Sloan chalk painted rockers perfectly. The thick, woven blanket is from the same range at Target and is ideal for throwing over chilly shoulders!
My covered porch is pretty sheltered from the elements so I was also able to add decor touches like copper candle sticks and ceramic pomegranates and figs. You may recognize some of our recent DIY projects like the Fall felt succulents, the felt leaf wreath, the gold foiled pumpkins and our new DIY painted door mat. What better way to say “Hello!” to Fall than to take a glass of warm spiced apple cider for a little relaxing time after a busy day of work?

I love working with paper so much that I snubbed the felt projects, but your front porch has inspired me! I think I will branch out and try making the wreath. It is so beautiful!
Thank you! I’m sure that your wreath will look lovely. 🙂
Seeing your very comfortable lovely front porch sure makes me miss front porch on our house in KY. It was at least twice as long as yours, fairly deep and I loved it so. Had such a good time decorating it all the time. It had banister all around it. Still miss that house for many reasons, son put big front porch on when he completely redid the house. Don’t think I appreciated that house as I should have all time we lived in it, son did terrific job rehabbing it. Wish we could have brought it with us to put on our 1/2 acre here. Was gorgeous out there in Fall also. We had 1 1/2 acres there with small stream running between us and farm land next to us. Too bad weather was too hard on me there.
Your porch is so welcoming and relaxing looking. So nice to sit out there to have meals, coffee, what have you. Enjoy your porch. We have small front porch on our present home but not covered, wish it was, maybe some day we can cover it to enjoy more for our older years. Happy week
Thanks again for all your lovely messages, we all enjoy to read them! It sounds like you live on a beautiful piece of property!
I thought last year’s porch couldn’t be improved upon and then you do this! Those colours are stunning together and since I would usually avoid orange it’s a lesson to me to experiment beyond my usual colour preferences. Your porch is gorgeous and what I love about it is that, unlike many porches which place the owners in full view of neighbours and passers by, all the foliage around it seems to provide you with some privacy; which is probably just as well because I can imagine a large crowd of passers by gathering to appreciate that beautiful wreath on your door.
You are so sweet, thank you for your comment. Next time you are in Portland please stop by and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa or cider on my porch:-) And don’t be afraid of orange, although I do use it sparingly.
Thank you! A cup of cider and a chat with you on your porch sounds like the perfect reason to make the journey from France to Portland. Likewise, if you ever find yourself on the Burgundy/Champagne border there’s a glass of bubbly with your name on it on our terrace.
Wow, that sounds lovely! I need a vacation and the Burgundy/Champagne area sounds lovely;-)
Wow, Please come and do mine ;-P
Would love to pop right over:-)
