Two things that I have always believed is that you’re never too young to make a fashion statement, and you’re never too young to start venturing into the world of DIY! Here is an easy sewing project that is the perfect activity for an afternoon spent crafting with your kids. This DIY bear felt bag for kids is too adorable!
We will show you how to craft this felt bag step by step. Just follow our instructions below and download the PDF pattern at the end of the post.
The Bear Necessities
This little bear felt bag is a fantastic size for your kids to store all of their goodies. The purse measures at 6 inches by 5.5 inches, but you could always resize the template if you prefer a larger or smaller bag.
Start by choosing your colors of felt for the bear. We used Benzie Design’s felt in silver, ivory, black, castle, and blush for his cute little cheeks. Pick some matching embroidery floss and you are ready to begin! This project requires a simple blanket stitch for all his little facial details. You can use a sewing machine for this bear felt bag, of course, but you can also use this as an opportunity to introduce yourself or your kids to some of the fundamentals of sewing. And you will love the result!
Print the template as a guide for cutting out your shapes. Then, follow the step-by-step tutorial below to put this little bear felt bag together.
Once you have sewn his face, it is time to pick your strap. You could really use anything! We’ve used a woven canvas strap for ours, which you can find at any local craft store. Just make sure it is sturdy enough for whatever trinkets you’ll be putting into the felt bag. I also love the idea of using a braided leather cord or a pretty ribbon for the strap. Get creative!
I always love to see what you’re up to in your crafty lives, so make sure you share your photos with me! Send them in by emailing hello@liagriffith.com or tagging your Instagram photos with the hashtag #MadeWithLia. I will always share my favorites with you! Happy crafting ~Lia and team

I love this little bear purse! It’s super cute!
Thank you Sarah!
I”m off line for just few days and you come up with this adorable little purse. Now what little girl can I make this for? Will be few more days before I have computer to print out patterns for this adorable little purse. This is too hot, looks like something any young girl would love.
Hubs doesn’t have printer anymore, he has my old Xp pc. What he did have no idea but oh well. Will have to wait til I get pc fixed. Finally got my new windows 8.1 out to try to download 10 but am stuck. Think would be easier to buy new computer and just shelve that one, have had nothing but trouble with it since I got it almost 2 yrs ago. And yes it’s me, just can’t seem to “get” windows 8.1. The whole concept of it makes my brain go to mush. What can I say. Need one those pc’s Aarp sells for seniors, duh.
Have great weekend.
Hope you are up and running soon! We have lots of great projects for you!!
