Fall is here and we are welcoming it with open arms. Our morning coffee/tea/hot cocoa is a vital part of our start to the day at Lia Griffith HQ and so why not make it beautiful?! Our DIY felt coffee sleeves are fun and simple to make and stop those piping hot drinks from burning our slightly chilly fingers – perfect! In three different designs, our felt coffee sleeves read, “Good Morning Beautiful“, “Hello Fall” and “Eat, drink and be cosy“. You will find the pattern for the sleeve below as well as the SVG file for the text. If you don’t have a cutting machine don’t worry, we have a couple designs coming your way which are simple to cut by hand! We would recommend using a good quality felt, the thicker the better. Use a simple blanket stitch around the edges and at the back. Print the text onto an iron-on of your choice. Here we used a glitter gold vinyl and frosty white, both add the perfect amount of sparkle to our soft, earthy felt sleeves. Our morning cup of loveliness never looked so good.

All will help you embrace the changing season with a smile! Head over to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to see what DIY goodness we are sharing next. Enjoy! ~ Lia

Hi! Was a simpler design created for those of us without cutting machines like it says in the post? Thanks!!
Yes, there is a PDF that is a template to cut the felt sleeve. You can decorate as you like.
I was just curious what size cup it fits, or does it fit all sizes fairly well. Thank you!
The curve fits well on most cups and you can make them smaller to fit by trimming the edge.
A SVG for the cuff template would be great to use to cut out the felt on a cutting machine!
Done! You will find the SVG in the post. 🙂
I’m unable to download the SVG file. When I click the link, it just downloads as a pdf file. I can convert the pdf to svg using ink space, but could you tell me what the correct dimensions are for the svg file?
The sleeve itself is just the PDF though I can add it as an SVG. If you want to convert it yourself the measurement of the document it is on is 11 inches wide.

There is a comment saying an svg is available but I cannot find it? Please help 🙂
Hi Trish, the SVG file is available at the bottom of the post (Coffee Sleeve Template).
What’s an SVG? And how do I use the printable with the vinyl transfer?
Hi! An SVG is a type of file that can be used with a Cricut cutting machine. Unfortunately this project doesn’t have a PDF version to use with printable iron-on vinyl. We usually include PDF versions of our SVG cut file designs so our members without cutting machines can still make the projects, but sometimes they don’t translate well (this was one of those!)
Do you have an SVG file for the template? Thanks!
It’s now available to download 🙂
Did you use one layer of felt for this project or two? I love the blanket stitch, I didn’t know if it was a detail or used to see two layers together.
Thanks!
We used only one layer, with the blanket stitch being decorative. You could use 2 layers if you want to. 🙂
What kind of iron on paper did you use??
We used the Cricut Glitter Iron-On in gold and white.
Hi Lia!
Wondering where you got the felt for these (if you remember) or if you have a good suggestion for higher-quality felt than can be found at most craft stores? These colors are beautiful and heathered, much nicer than the kid-style felt I’ve found locally. Thanks!!
For this particular project, we used some wool blend felt from our local fabric store. We also order from Benzie Design which has a few select colors that are heathered.
I just wondered if you butt the ends together or overlap them?? I didn’t have a cup to check the fit.
Good question Jan–we did a blanket stitch on the back of the sleeve to secure it to the coffee cup 🙂
This is such an awesome and cute idea! I love all of your felt projects! I just got the silhouette curio and am having a hard time using it (this my first cutting machine). I’m kind if leaning towards returning it and getting the cricut instead. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I have not tried the new Curio yet but if it were me. . . I would return and get the Cricut Explore. We have three in our office that run everyday and we LOVE them!
Thank you for the suggestion!! Just wondering, can the cricut explore cut felt too?
Supposedly it does, but I have not gotten it to work. I think it depends on the type of felt you use.
only looking at this photo makes me feel cozy inside!
Awe, thank you.
