Flying Paper Crow Decor
Now that my front porch is ready for Halloween, I started in on decorating my house with DIY Halloween decorations. I wanted to set up an inviting entry with treats for my guests and the focal point being a flying crow chandelier.

Become a MemberWe began this project by cutting out paper crows from a black metallic paper. Of course you can use any black paper for this project and you can download the crow template below. We then used a manzanita branch painted orange for the base of this piece and hung it from my ceiling. The crows were tied onto the branches with black string and mixing in a few black paper feathers. Easy and eye catching. It looks like the crows are hovering over the treat bowls hoping to grab a piece. The entryway desk was set with items from my stash, including the leftover mannequin hands I have kept around for years. After a little coaxing I was able to get my cat, Cleo to model for this shot. I can’t have a black cat and not take full advantage of her adorableness during this time of year, right? So what are your DIY Halloween decor plans for the season? Share with us on Facebook! ~ Lia

Dear Lia,
Iast year my mum passed away after her battle agains cancer. she was 65. She loved flowers and as soon as I saw your great blog I felt in love. I know she would love paper flowers I did last weekend. I can only THANK YOU for being such an inspiration for me.
I live in Italy and we don’t celebrate halloween here too much, however, something I will do for sure. thank you for sharing your ideas and svg file 😉

Eliza, I am so sorry for your loss! I think it is beautiful that you two shared the same love for flowers and it is really sweet that you are thinking of her as you are making your own paper flowers. Thank you for reaching out to me, I am so humbled when I hear that I am an inspiration. Thank you!! Happy Halloween:)
I LOVE the orange branches, lia!! did you spray-paint them? and your idea with the hands is inspired! reminds me of the munsters 🙂
I spray painted a manzanita branch orange, a post on that will follow. I have had a lot of readers ask me about it. I don’t know if you have noticed but the branch is making it’s way into a lot of my pictures, I just love it:)
Beautiful setting and the kitty is the special bonus! Thanks for the cutting files.
🙂
