The magnolia is such a peaceful flower and I find a great sense of calm whenever I’m making these beautiful blooms in paper. This crepe paper version is super easy to make because you can stretch, mold and manipulate the paper with your fingers to get just the right shapes. I like to keep my paper Magnolia displays simple and elegant by sticking to soft whites for the petals and adding lots of large, rich green foliage to the vase. They are durable enough to hold a shape yet are light and delicate to look at which gives a wonderful realistic look to my paper flower designs. Today I am sharing the step by step tutorial for making my DIY paper magnolia flower and in the next month I will share a couple of different ways in which we can incorporate this stunning bloom into arrangements and wreaths. Below you will find the PDF which contains all the templates you will need for this project. For my simple three bloom arrangement, I added two stems of leaves in two tones to add some texture and fullness. Have a lot of fun and remember to share your paper flowers with me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the #liagriffith hashtag. I can’t wait to see them! ~ Lia

What an exquisite flower, remember the bushes from Bowling Green, KY when we moved there. What a luscious fragrance in Spring and summer. Yours look so pretty and real made in that crepe paper, not like usual crepe paper available in B.G. stores.
I did try the link to Carte Fini but pc just sat there, never came up. Maybe it’s our enchanting weather and my satellite internet or our router. Would like to can all of them but where we live have only two choices for internet. Was on Century Link for over 6 yrs. then switched to Hughes Net (satellite) which is better I guess, speed not great but try to console myself I’m learning patience waiting interminably, lol.
Every time Century Link truck went down to end of our road where service box is our internet would be off for 2-4 days at a time, calling Century Link did no good. After more than 6 years found out about Hughes net.
There was a big thing here few months ago about this valley just not having power to give internet users what internet providers in valley could supply, no matter what.
Out where we live there are only 2 choices, not matter what power is. We had Dish network for our tv which advertised service anywhere, not. Not out here, in town 6 miles east of us but not out here.
I got rid of Dish tv service last Summer, sick of paying for channels we never watched and paying for late chgs because they refused to change our due date which was almost 2 weeks before we get paid. Kinda nice as I have little more disposable income to spend on what I want every month now. We have an antenna that plugs into our tv and is put between wall and ceiling above tv. Cost $40 to buy antenna. We have plenty of tv for free now, 3 local network stations and several of others including PBS.
Don’t imagine you have internet issues in Portland? Hope not as it’s quite frustrating.
You look very pretty on your video, I couldn’t hear it at all as sound on this older pc is not best at all along with my hearing loss.
Have great week.
We do have a few more options for provider but also I am pulling my hair out when our internet is slow:-)
I tired the fringing scissors but they only “ruffled” the crepe paper – LOL! I did have much better luck with regular scissors 🙂
Good to know, thank you!!
Oh, Lia – How did you know the one thing I miss from the home I lived in for 44 years is the blooming Magnolia tree!! Thank you for this, now I can make my own in my new home!!
Thank you so much.
I can see why, I love magnolias. So happy to share this pattern with you, enjoy!
love these! Want to make sure I am ordering the right colors. Is the center of the flower YELLOW crepe paper? What about the other colors?…petals white or ivory, the darker green…a grass green? I you know the exact names of the colors that would be great! Thank you so much! Need to order ASAP 😉
I used the French Vanilla for the centers as it is the softest yellow. Share photos. 😉
Would you be so kind as to link the small foam craft balls that you use? I have had difficulty locating anything smaller than a one inch foam ball.
Thanks so much
You can find different sizes at Amazon. Happy crafting!
Sorry, me again – do you use fringing scissors?
Merci beaucoup 🙂
Nope, just regular scissors but if you have a pair of fringe scissors you could bust them out;-)
OH!!! How amazing are these? Thank you 😀
This is one of your best crepe Creations.

Can’t wait to try your beautiful magnolias! What weight of the Italian crepe paper did you use? Thanks for your inspiring ideas and talent. Bev
I used 180 mg but the weight doesn’t really matter that much if it is Italian Crepe paper.
I absolutely LOVE the magnolias! We have a magnolia tree that is blooming right now and the scent of the flowers is so lovely I cut a blossom, brought it into the house only to discover they last a day and then poof! They turn brown…with your beautiful design I can now have magnolias in the house all year…thank you, can’t wait to try it!
