VIDEO: Rainbow Wall Hanging
Somewrap over the rainbow
This DIY rainbow wall hanging is an easy craft project that would look so pretty in a kid’s room or nursery. In fact, kids could even make this on their own if they feel comfortable using a hot glue gun! Of course you do not need to be a kid to enjoy this rainbow wall decor, and it would also look lovely in a living room or home office.
To help you make this project, we have created a rainbow template for you as well as a video tutorial.

Become a MemberTo make this DIY rainbow wall hanging, we simply wrapped a single color of macrame cord over a group of macrame cords. Our template will help guide you as you are wrapping your macrame cords, and our video tutorial will walk you through all of the steps. Easy peasy!
Crafting tips: Be sure to wrap the cord consistently tight for an even looking wrap. Before stringing on the beads, cover the ends of the cord with tape to make threading it through the beads easier. Make sure to continue using the template while gluing so your cords are glued in the rainbow shape.

I’m trying to do this craft with a couple pre-tween girls and we’re struggling with the lengths of the colored yarns. I purchased all of the yarns from your site and the affiliate site linked in the instructions. We cut the recommended amount of colored yarn but it wasn’t nearly enough for the longer arches of the rainbow. When we cut larger pieces and wrapped, the arches were too big and bulky. Do you have any recommendations on how to find the right length for the colored yarn? Thanks!
Hi Nicole! If you’re using our template, the length of cord should be correct as noted in the video. If you need to add on during wrapping, you can tie on more cord with a small knot, then hide it the way you do at the end (use the end of scissors to push in and hide). My best advice is to keep the natural cord (that is being wrapped) together as tight as possible to avoid bulk.
This is super cute!
Thank you!
