VIDEO: Metallic Starburst Mirror
Brighten up your home
We cannot get over how amazing this DIY starburst mirror looks! Made completely from chipboard and spray painted gold, it looks just like the real thing and will save you a lot of money, too.
Since chipboard can be tricky to cut, we recommend using a cutting machine for this project. Make sure to read our crafting tip below, then follow our video tutorial to create your own starburst mirror.

One natural place to hang it is above a mantel or console table where you could also place some paper greenery, like our crepe paper eucalyptus branches. It will also look really lovely with any type of seasonal or holiday decor!

Crafting tip: Test cut some scrap chipboard to find the best setting for your machine. We cut using the Cricut recommended setting for 2mm chipboard. Be sure to check that the chipboard has been cut all the way through before removing the mat from your machine. You can run extra passes until it is cut through (sometimes it takes a few passes).

I can’t open or use this. Very Frustrating. Can I please get a svg cut file for my Cricut Maker? Thank you
Hi Kim, there is a button at the bottom of the post for members to download the SVG file. If you are unfamiliar with how to use these, you can check out this video: https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/how-to-use-files-cricut/
Do you have this as another type of file? I just can’t get my maker3 to cut it without shredding it to bits no matter what I try. I found a place that will cut it with a laser, but they need a pdf or .dxf File. I know you usually have a pdf along with the svg file…but not this time….lol.
So sorry you are having problems cutting this project on your machine, we will add a PDF file to this project ASAP.
I’m really struggling with this. I’m using all the same materials but my pieces keep peeling and/or pulling completely off. I’ve had great luck with your other chipboard projects (such as the moon and stars macrame project), but this one is fighting me. Any ideas as to what’s going wrong?
We would recommend doing a test cut on your chipboard of a small star shape to make sure you are using the right setting for your machine and blade. Try adjusting the pressure of the cut and see if you get better results. Use masking tape to tape down all edges of the chipboard to your mat to avoid movement. If you are having problems with cut pieces pulling off try using a strong grip mat. We used a new standard mat with no issues. As for the problem with peeling unfortunately this is an issue with the quality of the cricut chipboard but you can easily use white glue to secure the peeling bits back down.
