As cute as these Felt Cabbages may be, they’re not just for the play kitchen. Indeed, this intermediate project is full of personality and a fabulous addition to your crafting repertoire. Additionally, if you’re looking to practice your stitching skills — this is a wonderful project to do just that. Be sure to take a look at our Embroidery 101 course if you need a bit more support. Once you’ve gathered your tools and materials, get ready to create beautiful felt cabbages that look freshly picked from the patch.
What we love most about these little Felt Cabbages are the intricate details. This project begins with a round, soft base and vibrant cabbage leaves of purple and green. Then, each leaf is covered in a double-running stitch to give the illusion of veining for that extra touch of realism. Lastly, you can attach the leaves with a combination of glue and stitching to give your cabbage beautiful texture and shape. However, if you want a bit more of a challenge, you can hand-stitch the entire cabbage instead.
Once your Felt Cabbages are finished, add them to your kiddos’ felt food pantry for hours of imaginative play, or use them for adorable Easter decor.
We’d love to see your Felt Cabbage creations, so be sure to share them on Instagram with #MadeWithLia or post them in our crafters’ community.
