VIDEO: Felt Artichokes
These adorable Felt Artichokes are the second project in our Autumn Colors Craft Summit from October 16-20. Add these yummy-looking veggies to your kiddo’s felt garden collection for even more make-believe gardening fun. Pair these artichokes with our felt root veggies or these felt eggplants for the start of a super healthy imaginary feast!
Once you’ve gathered your tools and materials, then download the tutorial below. When you’re ready, you can catch this live workshop on October 17 at 12 p.m. PT. If you need to brush up on your embroidery skills before then, be sure to check out our embroidery guide.

Over the years, I’ve developed quite a love for artichokes and have designed a couple of crepe paper versions for previous collections. Whether using paper or felt, what I especially like about crafting these pretty edible flowers — is how easy they are to make! These felt artichokes are very beginner-friendly and a great craft if you’re new to embroidery or just want a bit more practice.
The artichoke itself is comprised of a stuffed ball center with leaves overlapped and glued to the exterior. Easy peasy! If you have a little crafter at home, this would make a great project for them as well. We used our lichen green felt, which is heathered for a more textured quality, and our dark moss green embroidery floss to tie it all together.
Share with us when you’re all finished by uploading your pics to our crafters’ community or on Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia.

Working on this project, missing step 16 on picture tutorial.
HELP…lol

Oh goodness! It looks like a typo since there are two of step 15. 🙂
I just finished making my first artichoke (also my first Lia Griffith project)! I really appreciated being able to watch the video and work along with it as I’ve had time. I decided to stitch all my leaves. It didn’t really take me that long ( I would do 10 or more while watching other videos) and I like the result. I plan to make a couple more and other felt vegetables.
Thank you for this project. I love it!
Welcome!! I love the stitched look as well. My favorite. Share pics of your finished bowl of artichokes.
What is the best way to maintain the fabric mat? Is there a good way to remove the tiny bits of green felt fuzz to keep the mat sticky as possible? The felt cut beautifully!
Have been able to take our Cricut Skill Course yet? https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/
I show some tips on keeping your mats clean. My favorite is a lint roller. 🙂
