Though the Columbine is undoubtedly stunning, it’s not its beauty that makes it a standout in this collection. Native to high-altitude regions, this flower thrives in rugged, challenging environments, making it a symbol of endurance and aspiration. It’s a reminder to keep growing, no matter the obstacles in our path. Because of its long, spurred petals, many think the columbine resembles an eagle or the playful spiked hat of a court jester. Personally, I think they have a jellyfish-like charm, but no matter how you view them, there’s no denying their striking elegance.
While the blue variety is the most popular—being Colorado’s state flower—columbines can also bloom in vibrant reds, yellows, and pinks. So, be fearless and craft your Felt Columbine in any color that brings you joy! Don’t forget to add little details with art markers to give your flower a pop of color and dimension. Also, to bring your petals to life, use fabric stiffener after construction to soften your felt, allowing for more natural texture and movement.
When your Felt Columbine is completed, incorporate it into a bright springtime arrangement or display the stems in a sweet bud vase. Feeling extra creative? Craft a few and use them to decorate handmade cards or gifts. However you choose to showcase them, don’t forget to share your creations with us on Instagram using #MadeWithLia or post them in our crafters’ community. We can’t wait to see how you bring this beautiful flower to life!
