Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a junior just starting out, this sweet Felt Cottage Purse is the perfect project for you. It's also a great opportunity for junior crafters to hone their skills in a fun and engaging way. If you're a bit rusty with your sewing machine, don't worry! This project can be done entirely by hand. But if your machine's been neglected, now's the perfect time to dust it off and put it to use!
Though we've sewn a pouch or two on the site before, there's something so adorable about this sweet and cozy Felt Cottage Purse. It's designed with a thatched roof and a peekaboo window complete with a little cat and potted plant. It's the perfect size for your everyday essentials—keys, lip gloss, maybe even a hair tie or two (because spring breezes are no joke!). Once complete, your kiddo will undoubtedly be the coolest in the shire.
I love this project because it really reinforces how useful and fun it is to sew your own clothes and accessories. It's essentially a superpower that allows you to create and share a one-of-a-kind item made entirely by you! Also, there's this amazing sense of accomplishment that comes from creating something beautiful and useful with your own two hands.

Hi there, how much felt is needed for this cottage purse/bag?
What is the size? Living in The Netherlands…so when I convert inches I think it is too big?
Thanks a lot.
Our felt sheets are approx 30x45cm. You can make the little bag with just one of each of the colors. This is such a cute gift idea!
Very easy to make, I did use a small amount of glue to tack down the pieces so they would stay easily in place for stitching. I also lined with another piece of felt. I have made many things for our 2 grand nieces (a 6 year old and a 3 year old) over the last 5 years (most recently the needle felted bunnies for Easter) but this was the first time I got to see them open something I made for them. They love them. They are taking them everywhere. The six year old says about me – she is like Izzy. My Little Pony character who specializes in arts and crafts. So happy! Thanks for the wonderful pattern.
Ahhhh. I love your note. Just gave me the biggest smile. 🙂 I think adding just a bit of glue is such a good idea.
Im having problems uploading the svg file to Cricut, is anybody else having this issue? The purse is adorable11
I just tested the file and it seems to be working for me. Remember to hide the designer notes layer which might be giving you a warning icon. Can you give me more details on how you are having issues?
