Despite the intricate appearance of this craft, it's simpler than you might think! We highly recommend using a cutting machine for precision when working on your leaves. However, if you're cutting by hand, our template includes larger leaves that are easier to cut. Once you've prepped your materials, the assembly is pretty straightforward, making this an enjoyable project for crafters of any skill level.

Japanese maples are a beloved garden staple, and it's easy to see why. Their delicate leaves transform throughout the seasons, offering a breathtaking display of fiery oranges, deep reds, and vibrant purples. These trees truly shine in the fall, with their foliage creating a tapestry of colors that is simply mesmerizing. Their leaf shape is highly variable, making each branch unique — a trait we've captured in our felt version.

For this project, we used our Wild Currant felt — a heathered burgundy purple that beautifully mimics Japanese maples in autumn. We added veins using a fuchsia paint marker to give the leaves even more depth. The result is a branch that is both realistic and artfully vibrant. The end result is perfect for displaying in a vase or as part of a larger fall arrangement. If you want to experiment with other colors, try our Cranberry, Paprika, or Mustard felt to capture the full range of autumnal tones.

Once you've completed your Felt Japanese Maple Branch, you'll have a stunning piece of fall décor as unique as the tree itself. Whether displayed on its own or incorporated into a seasonal arrangement, this project is sure to bring the beauty of the changing seasons into your home. Don't forget to share your creations with us using #MadeWithLia — we can't wait to see all your hard work!
