This intermediate-level project is quite the stitching adventure. If you're new to embroidery or want to refresh your skills before you begin —  take a peek at our Embroidery Basics for support. This project is a great way to build your confidence with different stitches while creating something sweet and unique. Once you've gathered your tools and materials, get ready for some Dim Sum fun.

Dim sum is more than just food — it's an experience! Originating in China, these small, yummy bites are served in bamboo steamer baskets and are meant to be shared. In fact, the name "dim sum" means "touch the heart," and is all about enjoying every delicious moment with friends and loved ones. Our Felt Play Dim Sum captures the spirit of this tradition, letting you create a little dim sum feast to share with the little dumplings in your life. And the best part? No cooking required!

One of the things we love when designing a new project is creating ways for you to learn new skills while mastering others. For example, our tutorial will show you how to weave the lid from felt strips to fit snugly over your bamboo basket. Lastly, your xiaolongbao soup dumplings are filled with soft felt and gathered up snugly using a simple running stitch. True to their name, these little dumplings are the heart of this project — ready to share and enjoy.

Once you're finished, we'd love to see how you use your Felt Play Dim Sum! So be sure to share your creations with us on Instagram using the hashtag #MadeWithLia and join our crafting community for inspiration and connection. Looking for more play-kitchen inspiration?
