Often misunderstood, possums are nature's nocturnal helpers. These backyard critters are very effective at getting rid of unwanted pests like insects and rodents. Along with their distinctively rodent-like faces, possums are also known for their long, hairless pink tails, which they can use to grasp tree limbs and hang upside down.
To achieve that trademark possum look, we gave our felt possum long, wiry whiskers made with embroidery floss. And to mimic their long prehensile tails, we sewed a chenille wire stem inside our stuffie's tail to make it poseable. How cute is that? Craving more cute critter action? Try your hand at these mouse and rabbit stuffie projects.
Whether you craft one or a whole passel of possums, don't forget to share your creation with us in our crafters' community or on Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia.
Stitches used: blanket, whip, and ladder stitch.

Leave a CommentIs the circuit cutter/silhouette necessary? Iโm trying to imagine where these would be used, and apart from the pattern, I canโt think of anything. I donโt think these can cut feltโฆ right? Anyway, my daughterโs birthday is coming up, sheโs in her โPossum Seasonโ of life. It used to be, โIโm a frickinโ dinosaur!โ as she pulled in her arms and went stomping through the kitchen for snacks like a T-Rex. But sheโs soon to be 16 and itโs all, โpossum goalsโ as she pretends to be dead instead of loading the dishwasher. And something about screaming like a possum and eating snacks. Ya know, hot girl summer turns into possum fall. Anyway, I have books of hand sewn felt creatures, but no possums. A travesty, really! So, just wanted to know if I can 1. Buy just this pattern? And 2. Do I *actually* need a circuit cutter/silhouette? If itโs for the pattern can I not just print it out on paper? Trying to better understand that tool. Thanks!
Hello Mia! Your message made me laugh. I had a 16-year-old once. As for the cutting machines, no, you can cut the felt by hand. However, the cutting machines with the rotary blades DO cut felt quite well. The project comes with a printable PDF that you can use for your pattern. I can add the possum for a single purchase for you in our shop, OR… you can just get a month of membership (and then cancel) for the same price and choose 4 more stuffie templates. Let me know if you prefer the single purchase, and I will get that set up and send you the link. https://feltpaperscissors.com/
Hey, so, I checked out the membership but I cannot find the possum pattern anywhere. I went into projects and looked under Felt and Fiber and thereโs an African elephant, axolotl, baby chick with eggs, badger, climbing monkeys, corgi, donkey, forest dragon, french bulldog, lemur stuffy, mama goose, red panda, arctic fox, farm chicken, polar bear cubs, cardinal, dragon, whale shark, baby bat, and pumpkin head buddies. Then, I went into felt projects and it wasnโt there either. I went to membership, and kits and I couldnโt find the possum anywhere. Iโm not great at navigating websites, so I had my super-tech husband try to find it and he couldnโt either. I would like to get the membership and download a few of the cute patterns (like that axolotl), but ultimately Iโm looking for the possum. Can you give me a link directly to it? Or direct me to where itโs located? Sorry for the hassle! Thank you!
Hello Mia. The downloads for the Felt Possum Stuffie is right here in the left column. Were you looking in our shopโFelt Paper Scissors? That is not the membership site, that is where we sell the products to make the projects. If you want to become a member for a month, just click the download button on the right and it will prompt you to sign up for the membership. You will then have access to 5 projects here on this site (liagriffith.com) and the projects from the October collection as well. Let me know if you have any other issues! Happy crafting. ๐
Is there a way i can only buy this pattern?
We will have single purchase available this fall. If you need it now, we can add it to the shop (feltpaperscissors.com) templates.
Is there somewhere in this listing that gives the finished dimensions of all these felt stuffie projects?
We do not list final dimensions, but we often photograph someone holding the finished item to give a reference. This little guy is about 7 inches long.
Hello, dear Lia!
If I buy a monthly membership, could I get this pattern?
I love this possum so much๐
Yes, you can! And a few little friends for this cutie as well. ๐
Ok๐
Thanksโค
I have not been able to find the SVG download… only the PDF. I watched the video on how to upload and it looked like there was a specific SVG download. I wasn’t sure if I missed it. Or, Do I need to convert it myself? Thank you!
All of the files, SVG, PDF template and tutorial are in one zipped folder now. Let me know if you need any extra help on how to unzip or download. ๐
I’m having trouble unzipping the files to print from my phone.
Can you download and unzip the folder onto your computer then send the file to your phone? There are ways to do it on the phone, but this is the easiest method.
Noting that on the colour page of the PDF the front leg and back leg say x2, but I think it should probably say x4.
Hi Julie! The template is correct. The charcoal legs on the left are sewn to the body pieces, and the longer ones in the middle are sewn to the underside. It is marked with those colored dots, too
I am a member and yet cannot access the animal stuffy templates???
Are you logged into your account?
I love this!
Perfect for September! ๐
I have never been so excited.
Right!?! I have never seen such a cute possum!
