A new monthly collection means a brand new addition to our felt stuffie catalog! We’re so excited to introduce you to this handsome little Felt Possum. This marsupial cutie is a perfect end-0f-summer craft to usher in all things fall. Shorter days, cooler nights, and a whole new season of adorable animals await!

Some basic construction knowledge is needed for this project, so it’s great for our intermediate crafters. Once you’ve gathered your materials, just download our pattern and tutorial below to get started.

Awesome Possum

Often misunderstood, possums are nature’s nocturnal helpers. These backyard critters are very effective at getting rid of unwanted pests like insects and rodents. Along with their distinctively rodent-like faces, possums are also known for their long, hairless pink tails, which they can use to grasp tree limbs and hang upside down.

To achieve that trademark possum look, we gave our felt possum long, wiry whiskers made with embroidery floss. And to mimic their long prehensile tails, we sewed a chenille wire stem inside our stuffie’s tail to make it poseable. How cute is that? Craving more cute critter action? Try your hand at these mouse and rabbit stuffie projects.

Whether you craft one or a whole passel of possums, don’t forget to share your creation with us in our crafters’ community or on  Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia.

Stitches used: blanket, whip, and ladder stitch.
