These small bottles fit nicely into a handbag or you can keep an extra bottle at your workstation along with some homemade hand lotion. What makes this combo a favorite of mine are the natural ingredients and the option to pick a new fragrance for every batch with essential oils.
Herb Your Enthusiasm
After searching for a hand sanitizer recipe that would be effective against viruses, we found this one to be not only potent but simple to make. And with our added oils, it feels much gentler on the skin. At the bottom of the post, you will also find some pretty label designs for your hand sanitizer.
Note: We know many of you are searching for a homemade hand sanitizer right now. The best way to avoid getting sick and spreading germs is to wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds. However, if soap and water are not available to you, make sure to rub the sanitizer all over your hands until they’re dry.
What You Will Need
- 1 cup of 91% isopropyl alcohol
- ½ cup of aloe vera gel (natural or store-bought)
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil (or another antibacterial essential oil)
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (for moisture)
- Bowl and whisk or a shaker
- Measuring cups
- Funnel
- Small spray bottles
- Cricut Maker (for decal)
- White Vinyl (for decal)
Instructions
Starting with a recipe featured in Popular Science, with references for its proven effectiveness, I simply mixed the two main ingredients and then added the essential oil and vitamin E oil. You can use a small whisk or a shaker to incorporate the liquids and a funnel to fill all of the bottles. This recipe was the perfect amount for the four small spray bottles.

Thanks it looks so nice. I cut by hand so I may have to get creative
How did you get the white text? I printed from the pattern which is black once placed on the amber bottles you can barely see it. I’m not aware of any printers that print white so im curious how you achieved it. I love the look with the white.
It’s vinyl! We cut white vinyl on the cutting machine and placed it on the bottle, like a sticker.
