Holiday Living Room Reveal
My living room is the center of the Holidays. At this time of the year, more than any other, I like my living room to be a warm and welcoming place for myself, family and friends to relax and unwind together. In my home, my entryway leads straight into the living room so it is important that the two spaces compliment one another.
As the season changes, and the days become cooler, itβs a great time to re-think your living room dΓ©cor and bring in items that reflect the joy of the Holiday season. I wanted to create a room that reflects my love of Scandinavian and mid-century design and was thrilled to find lots of pieces at Hayneedle that allowed me to realize my vision.

Become a MemberWith the darker days ahead, it was important to keep my living room bright and light, so I began this make-over by thinking about color. Gold and white are hot right now and make a gorgeous winter color combination, so I began there with the The Modway Lounge Chair, nuLoom Greek Flokati rug and beautiful Olivia ceramics. I made a fresh TV cover in complimentary shades of silver, grey and white. And recovered my ottoman in a durable, geometric upholstery fabric.
Next I layered on touches of rich red and dark wood, like the rustic JOY letter lights, the red berry balls and those gorgeous Belham side tables to create a sumptuous palette that is perfect for Fall.
Texture is oh-so-important when creating any room but itβs especially important when planning your Fall dΓ©cor. To bring the room to life and keep it feeling cozy I added details like the embellished pillows, wool baskets and natural wood end table. The white willow wreath and fresh foliage from my yard are simple ways of adding texture with little to no cost. We made a large macrame wall hanging using rope from our local hardware store and an over-sized string sphere light shade for the ceiling pendant.
Gloomy days can make a home feel dark so I brought in the Fortune wall mirror to reflect any natural light in the entryway and I can brighten the darker evenings with accent lighting like the Kenroy table lamp and the Adesso floor lamp β perfect!
I finished my living room update by choosing a tree that compliments my dΓ©cor perfectly. The Vintage Black Ombre tree, with lights and stand, is the perfect blend of tradition and glamor. All thatβs left to be done is wrap a couple final gifts and pour myself a glass of warm mulled wine. If you are inspired by my living room update for Fall, head over to Hayneedle and take a look at their fab Holiday offers. Happy Holidays! ~ Lia

Hi Lia,
Love your living room during the holidays and every other day! Where are the drapes in this room from?
Thank you:-) I purchased the fabric for the curtains at my local fabric store a couple of years ago.
It’s lovely!
Thank you π
Your Joy letters are on sale at my local Joann’s half off! I’m on my way!!!!
Wonderful!! We have also used those letters to decorate a Christmas tree, look for that post coming up π
What a beautiful Christmas room, love the tree in different shades. Thank you for inspiring me!
Thank you so much!!
Your room is absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you so much Deborah!!
Love the room. Did you make the screen over the mantel with the trees, if so how did you do it?
Thanks
I did make that fireplace cover! You can find a tutorial here π https://liagriffith.com/diy-birch-wood-fireplace-cover/
It’s all very pretty. But I especially love that wool pouf.
Pat
Love it all!!! the knotted wall hanging~ ombre tree. ALL OF IT!!!!
Thank you so much!!
Oh, beautiful! The items you bought from Hayneedle are gorgeous but I really love the chalkboard Christmas tree in the entry way and I think that may be 100% Lia Griffith. My husband and I are going to attempt to replicate your fireplace log board this week for the fireplace in our bedroom – wish us luck!
Oh best of luck to you Deborah!! The fireplace logs really add a beautiful rustic feel that you can enjoy for years to come!
I love this room so much, beautiful! (I’ve seen a similar macramΓ© wall hanging somewhere before a few years ago. It looks so complicated but fun to make)
Thank you so much!!
Is that your baby on the couch throw? Everything is just beautiful!
That’s my fur baby, Enzo π
Beautiful room! I love everything!
Thank you!!
Ok I am so inspired by your living room, would like to emulate a few choice decorations I noticed. Would you mind? Since ours is single wide mfg. home it won’t look same but would love it none-the-less. Loving your room so much, so many awesome ideas to emulate. Great house Lia.Where did you get those wonderful twisted white trees?
Love the canvas with diamonds/trees? on it. Would love to try to make that for our wall. Was going to make a Christmas tree with ornaments on canvas but realize with time shortening so quickly just not practical. Plus cost of buying so many ornaments even at $tree, have to got to stay out of that place and Big lots, such temptations.
Did buy set of set of King fleece plaid sheets at Big Lots, much better dollar value than buying flannel other places.
It’s getting to be that time of year. Have one set of heavy flannel “somewhere” but haven’t had enuf inclination to do digging for them. Did find 2 sets of really nice flannel King pillow cases at thrift store couple weeks ago, 50 cents for each pair and they go with colors in room/quilts. We use quilts on bed, not spread or comforter. Keeps look of quilt nicer from being in dryer, freshens up quilt very nicely. Actually usually take all 3 or 4 quilts off to freshen in dryer. Every other week put mattress pad in dryer also.
Got home little while ago to windy and chilly wind, feels good tho, like Thanksgiving coming.
Have to work on ornaments making this weekend, hope to get them finished. Have wonderful weekend
I got those white light-up sparkle trees from Hayneedle! Flannel sheets are definitely a must for the winter π
Lovely room!! Truly a winter paradise. Could you note where you purchased your Chalkboard style throw pillows? thank you!
I got that pillow from Hayneedle π
I can almost smell the Christmas atmosphere in your home and I miss white Christmas. Here in south of Italy no snow at all π
You will just have to create your own snowy decorations for Christmas π
Eliza, I suggest a Christmas Holiday in Alto Adige oppure i valli nel Dolomiti.
Munich (Monaco di Baviera) had its first snow this weekend – a stormy rainy Saturday, snow on Sunday
Lia, seems that your most favorite colors have changed for this season. It makes me smile. Seems also that the wallhanging above the bookcase was inspired by the curtain print π
