VIDEO: Honeycomb Holiday Ornaments
Ever since we saw how much you all loved our first few honeycomb crafts, we’ve been having so much fun coming up with new designs for you. Last year we made these honeycomb trees and now this year we have created some honeycomb ornaments as part of our holiday collection.
To get started, check out our tools and materials list below, then download our pattern.

Honeycomb Holiday
As with all of our honeycomb projects, we recommend using a cutting machine for more precise cutting and scoring. But this template is also easy to cut by hand if you don’t have a cutting machine. Our pattern includes three ornament designs for you to choose from and you’ll need 20 layers for each ornament you want to make.
We can’t wait to see your version of this project! Personally we love the combination of the green, pink, and gold colors for our honeycomb ornaments. But you can choose whatever colors you like.
Instructions
Because our frosted paper honeycomb holiday ornaments are constructed in the same way as our honeycomb apples and pears, you can follow the steps in this video tutorial to craft them.

Hi , I can’t seem to find your honeycomb paper in your shop?
Do you have to be a member to see all products?
It would be great if you could have more of your products on Amazon as shipping to Australia from the US site is very expensive
Hi Julie, this project is made from a DIY honeycomb so you can use any lightweight paper. We do sell the small honeycomb but that item is for the mushroom project.
We wish that Amazon were better with small businesses. Unfortunately, when we sell through them our costs are so high that we can not stay in business.
Hi,
I just tried uploading the svg to design space and I’m getting an image load failure. I followed the prompts to address the issue (uninstalled and reinstalled design space) and I’m still getting the same error message. Is there something wrong with the file?
Thank you,
Rebecca
Can you give me more details? Did you unzip the SVG file before you uploaded it. We have a video here showing the process, maybe that will help. I just tested the file and it seems to be okay. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/lessons/1-lia-griffith-files-for-the-cricut/
This doesn’t work in Cricut. I am so disappointed. I went shopping yesterday to buy my materials so I could make these today – (my last day off before xmas.. ) and it clearly doesn’t work.
I have used one of my 5 projects for it and I feel it has been a complete waste of time.
The instructions one person gives to rectify the problem doesn’t make any sense to a beginner like me ☹️
It should work with the Cricut. Have you watched this video on how to use our SVG files with Cricut? It might be really helpful. Once you learn, everything is a breeze. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/how-to-use-files-cricut/
We also have a video for cutting frosted paper here: https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/cutting-frosted-paper-with-cricut/
I am guessing you are a new member. As our seasoned members all know, we are here every step of the way for you. Let me know how else I can assist. 🙂
I had the same issue. My app was closing when trying to look at the layers. I managed to fix the issue by deleting some blank shapes that are on the file (ungroup image, drag the real shapes to one side, then click/tap and drag the area where the image was. There, i found shapes that, i guess, are not compatible/identified by the app)
Thanks for this tip! Sometimes we need a list of good workaround ideas when the software gets funky.
Love these new files. Couldn’t wait to make them. But when I tried to make them I had a problem. After uploading to design space I was unable to access layers panel to attach score lines. As soon as I tried this design space closed. I can access thru make it without making any changes but I would really like the score lines. I’ve delete the original downloaded file and uploaded agin but still having the same problem. Any advice.
Oh dear! This sounds like a Cricut software issue. I just tried it as well and it did not give me that issue but attached all of the layers and changed the colors to one color. Try clicking the eye to hide everything except one shape and the score lines and see if you can attach those two. If that works, cut one shape at a time then go back. Another idea if you can not see the attach option is to restart your software.
Hi Lia, I tried accessing this tutorial on Monday, the 15th. I also am trying to access the felt tree tutorial today. I thought they were going to be available to non-members for one day only.
Thank you!
Hi Lisa! Both of these projects are available for members only. We have never made a project free for one day only, so I’m not sure where you heard that? Our Christmas workshops are free for a limited time, which you can find here: https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/crepe-paper-christmas/. All of our other freebies are here: https://liagriffith.com/craft/freebies/.
Thanks I love these
You are so welcome!
Wow these look amazing cannot wait to try these.
Thanks Lia & Team.x
I love them and now want to make some jumbo ornaments to hang in the office. 🙂
