Where to Buy Leather

You can find leather from a number of sources. Of course there are plenty of places to buy online, and you can browse a good variety that way. We found our leather at our local leather store, Oregon Leather Co. You should also be able to find by heading to your local craft store like Michaels or JoAnn Stores. If you are lucky, they sometimes have piles of scrap leather that you can pick from – just ask! You also have the option of using faux leather, like Cricut’s selection. We recommend using faux leather if you are cutting the tassel with your cutting machine. If you want to know how to make a leather tassel with your machine, find our SVG template here

Tips

We highly recommend using a rotary cutter to create the fringe. Not only will it make the crafting process much quicker, but it will guarantee that the fringe is trimmed perfectly straight. It seriously takes 5 minutes to make tassels with a rotary cutter! If you do not have one, a regular pair of scissors will work just fine – just make sure to cut your lines as straight as possible. You might want to use a pencil to trace out your lines before cutting if you are using regular scissors.
