DIY_Sewn_Tote_BagSponsoredBy_BirchLaneToday we are going to share with you how to sew a simple ribbon and canvas tote bag – because when you have plenty of handmade tote bags, you can go out and do plenty of craft supply shopping – yay! This is the most simple tote bag pattern and tutorial we have ever shared. It uses just one piece of fabric and eight seams – super-simple! We used a durable interiors fabric (shop this project below!) and a length of 1.5 inch ribbon from Michaels. We love Babylock sewing machines because they are simple to use and we find them very trustworthy – which is important in a sewing machine! For this project we used their basic Rachel model. It’s a compact, computerized machine that is perfect for taking your sewing skills to the next level. We love her!

This is an ideal project for sewing newbies because the seams are straight and simple! Or, for those of you who are a dab hand with your sewing machine, you can whip this pretty tote up for friends, family and a whole stash for yourself! Simply gather your materials, print out the pattern that includes a material list and instructions below and then follow our step-by-step tutorial. Have fun!
