Crepe Paper Double Tulips – Member Make Workshop
Tulip Temptation
As we ring in the New Year, I’m always excited to reflect on all the wonderful projects featured here on the site. And as always, one or two catch my eye that could benefit from a refresh. So, I decided to revisit the lovely tulip for this month’s Member Make. We’ve featured these elegant blooms in many ways over the years, but I just love how these Crepe Paper Double Tulips turned out and couldn’t wait to share them with you!
This video is for members only.

Become a MemberIf you look to your right, you’ll find our list of tools and materials to make these stunning crepe paper double tulips. Feel free to download and cut out your pieces beforehand, then join us on Friday, January 19, at 12:00 noon PST for our live workshop! Don’t worry if you miss it; the video will be available here., afterward.
The tulip has long been a symbol of love, prosperity, and springtime. These gorgeous flowers come in nearly every color of the rainbow except for blue, and interestingly, they generally lack a scent. That means the real deal won’t have much on these lovely replicas once you’re all finished!
With their gently opening petals and deep, lush color, we really love the ultra-realistic look of these crepe paper double tulips. But don’t worry, we’ll walk you through how to achieve similar results in our live video workshop. As for materials, our Member Make Crepe Paper Bundle covers just about everything you’ll need for this project if you’d like to replicate the tulips featured here. However, if you’d prefer other colors, that works too!
Once complete, these will look stunning just about anywhere you put them. Whether, in a vase on your kitchen window or in a small pot on the mantle – your crepe paper double tulips are the perfect project to add a little rustic charm to your space ahead of the spring season!
We can’t wait to connect with all of you as we craft this Crepe Paper Double Tulip, together. When you’re finished, remember to share your creation with everyone in our crafter’s community. Or, tag us on Instagram with the hashtag #MemberMake.

I have a lot of white/white double sided. That should work for this project too right? lol
Absolutely! Use what you have and be creative with your colors! 🙂
what do you recommend as a fixative for the pan pastel on the flowers?
We like the the Krylon spray. Here is a link: https://amzn.to/3HXlmt7
What is the flower and or stamen made with sculpy clay? Where do i find that?
Dawn
Here it is! https://liagriffith.com/ombre-crepe-paper-tulips/
I ordered the Hansa Yellow pan pastel, and mine is GREEN. It’s marked correctly, with the correct color number, but it looks nothing like yours in the pictures. Also, quick tip on a fixative…. I use hairspray! It works great, and I always have it around.
Oh dear! Can you send us a picture of it? Send to hello@liagriffith.com
Have not tried the hairspray trick yet! Brilliant!
Well, it took me three days but I finally made three double tulips.
It was my first time using floral tape, pan pastels, pistols, stamens and stems. Say that three times. 🙂
I didn’t cut the first set at proper grain line and glued the wire at the wrong end of the second set.
I didn’t have the yellow pan pastel but made do with one I had. They’re not the color I was going for but I love them.
Today I’m going for the Parrot tulip.
I should have a nice bouquet by spring. 😉
Thank you to a great team of ladies.
That is fantastic! Make sure you are on our email list because we have a big announcement about crepe paper flower making. 😉
Loved this flower!!!! I wanted to challenge myself and use the Pan Pastel. I never used it before. I had so much fun making it and I am so proud of myself. It looks so good! Thank you so much for the great instruction.
I love to hear that Kelly-Anne! Share photos. 🙂
Is there a template that is not colorful?
Yes, the second page of the PDF is outline only.
when will the step by step photo tutorial be available?
The photo tutorial has been added to the downloads! 🙂
I have my pieces all cut out and pastel-ified, glued and ready to go! Won’t catch the live as I’ll be at work, (on EST time), but I can’t wait to watch the replay tomorrow and make these beauties!!! I hope there are extra details about blending the pastels and how to make the stamen. Can’t wait to see all the beautiful flowers everyone makes!
Yes! Meagan did such a great job of talking about the blending process. Looking forward to seeing your flowers!
Hi Lia,
I was hoping to make some of these beauties but the only video I see is a short that Megan had done. Is their not a Member Make video for these?
Hello Charlene! We have our LIVE workshop scheduled for this Friday at noon Pacific Time! Hope you can join us.
I am in the process of cutting the petals and leaves for the double tulip. These are the only shapes included in the template. I’d also like to have cut out ahead of time the other pieces that we will be using. Is there a template for those pieces? If not, can you provide me with the size and quantity needed of each color for each flower we choose to make? As this is my first attempt at making a crepe paper flower, I’d like to have has much prepped before the 19th to give me a better of chance of keeping up with the lesson.
Hi Cathleen, all the pieces you need to have cut in advance are those in the template. The template makes one flower using 12 petals (6 small + 6 large) and 2 leaves. We will only be making the tulips in the one color shown in the photos which uses the color of crepe paper indicated in the template, we will be using PanPastels to achieve the pink color shown in the photos!
Thank you for the further explanation. Looking forward to today’s make!
Please add either a 1″x1″ or 2″x2″ square to svg files to help cut correct size when software chooses to resize the file. This simple addition would make the files much easier to work with and give confidence that the correct size items are being cut. Your patterns are lovely!
Thank you.
In the designer notes layer you will see in the upper left corner a sizing note. Once you know the file (including the notes) is correct, you can hide that layer. Hope this helps.
It says it is for cricut machines only. a 1″x1″ square is pretty universal with sewing patterns that you download to assure the correct size. I have a Brother Scan n Cut so the title box does not work for us.
Oh, I see. We have not used that machine, so we have no experience designing for it. The sewing world has some great tips that we could incorporate.
Sorry, I tried to repeat the steps and it finally worked.
Great!
Hello! I was just going to cut this file and it did not ungroup when I ungrouped it and wants to cut on a black, peach and green 12×24 inch mat. Is that right?
Yes, that should work.
Hi Lia,
before I cut the SVGs, there’s a note to resize the artwork 11″x18″ – 11 in wide?
Thanks
That is correct. Once you hide that top layer it will fit onto your mats.
How do we access or from where do we access the live video workshop?
It will be on the member portal page (the main home page) as well as this page. We try to make it super easy for you to find. 😉
Thank you. Looking forward to my first live class.
Unable to download tutorial?
The tutorial will be posted after the live video workshop. We hope you can join, or even watch the replay!
Is the only way to get the double tulip template to sign up for the member monthly craft
Yes, it is. With that membership you can also join us for the live workshop event!
