Last Christmas, a designer friend of mine introduced me to making the paper poinsettia from a cocktail napkin. I loved this idea, and after a few tweaks and a glitter addition, I love it even more. I now call it my 30 second gift topper. I have made a step-by-step tutorial below and promise after a few tries, you will have it down to 30 seconds too. What brand of napkins are best? Also what is the finished size?

  I would just use some lightweight inexpensive napkins. These are made from cocktail napkins which are 5×5 inches.

I used gold pipe cleaner instead of twine and that way I can skip the glitter. I just made a few twist in the pipe cleaner before running through the holes. You can use the pipe cleaner to attach to gift.

  It may be that your napkin is softer. A cheaper napkin might do the trick. 😉

Hi Lia, This is a beautiful flower. Is it possible to make it from fabric ?? This would make a beautiful hair bow !! If it can be,what type of fabric would you recommend ? I have seen some of your tutorials on YouTube and they are great too !!!

  Yes, I used white for my tree last year. The middle is glitter on top of a dab of hot glue (as shown in the tutorial).

This looks like a great quicky project. Now if I can only do this. I’ll have to make a pattern as I’m no good at anything without a pattern, duh!
Beautiful flower, I’d love to make them in gold and silver so will be on lookout for nice cocktail paper napkins. Great tutorial

  The trick is to make sure you cut the right direction so all of your pieces are still attached. You can do it, I promise!

  You can do this! The trick it to make sure you leave the folded point attached and the center. Once you have that down, you are golden!
