Crepe Eucalyptus Gum Tree Branch – Member Make Workshop
Crepe Eucalyptus Gum Tree Branch – Member Make Workshop
This month’s Member Make is something really special. Over the years, we’ve crafted many different types of eucalyptus stems and plants, but this Crepe Paper Eucalyptus Gum Tree Branch is a first for us. I love the rustic and wild look of this flower and can’t wait to start crafting it with you.Â
To prepare for this workshop, gather the tools and materials you see below. Join us on Friday 7/21 at 11 a.m. PT, where we’ll be going live on site main page to show you how to craft this unique flower. If you can’t make it, no worries! You can watch the video recording later.
This video is for members only.

Due to some of the advanced techniques used in building this flower, we think this project is better suited to our intermediate crafters. Tight buds of fringed crepe paper give these flowers their wild and natural look. This red-flowering plant is native to Australia and can bloom in beautiful pink or orange as well. When choosing the palette for our gum tree eucalyptus, we tried to mimic nature as closely as possible. To add some depth, we applied a yellow Pan Pastel tint to the leaves and center of the flower.
We can’t wait to see how you’ve styled your crepe paper eucalyptus gum tree branch. Upload your photos to our crafters community or share them with us on Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia.

Hi. Just enjoying this video now in December. As an Aussie member I wanted to answer the question on what other Eucalyptus flower colours there are. They come in many colours! And sizes! I live in the Aussie bush in the north of Australia where a common gum tree has flowers with vibrant orange stamens. There are also other species that have hot pink, red, white and cream. The birds love the nectar in them and to eat the gum nuts.
Thank you, Jane! I love hearing these details. 🙂
I’m so sorry, I found the gold in the the triple pack.
Oh good!
Am I missing the gold extra fine crepe paper or is it no longer available?
Thanks
It is in the metallic pack, and we are getting more shipped from Germany.
Hiya!
I don’t own a Cutting machine but would like to download the svg files in case I ever get one. Somehow I cannot copy svg files onto my computer from the zip file I download from your web page… do you know why?
Diana
The zip folder has all of the versions of the files for this project. You will need to double-click to open the folder and you should be able to see the versions here. Here is a video that demonstrates. Let me know if that helps. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/lessons/1-lia-griffith-files-for-the-cricut/
This is so awesome. We are celebrating in September our 50th anniversary and I am going to decorate the tables with each of my flower arrangements. So exciting. I have been down the last several months to do with eye surgeries. Colonoscopy and endoscope. Feeling better and excited to do the month flowers. Thank you Lia. Everything so fun and turn out beautiful. I was thinking of making some stargazing lollies using navy and a lighter blue
So happy to hear you are doing better! And. . . that you are back making joy with crafting. 🙂
What can I use in place of the pan pastel color Hansa Yellow tint? Can I use the magenta titnt?
The magenta tint will change the green color of the leaves to a more brown tone. If you have any other color of yellow or even bright green, I would try that.
This looks so pretty! If I don’t have the gold extra fine will stretched gold heavy work? Equally it I don’t have cream tape can I instead cover the stems with red crepe?
Yes! I think both of those would work.
Wanted to say thank you for the picture tutorial. I watched the video and printed the photo tutorial. It’s so easy to follow along. I have an extra binder I put these in so I can reference them as needed. I so appreciate the extra work you did to make it s easier to remember the steps
You are welcome, Peggy! I love the binders!! 😉
Thanks so much for your help.
We are always here for you. 🙂
Lia, I can’t find the tutorial that Megan puts on for the class today. I looked in downloads but it isn’t there. I even deleted the files and did another download. I understand it should be with the template but still no luck. Can you help me out please? I can just watch the video but I really wanted to have the other.
Thanks.
Oh no! We had such a busy day that I think it was missed. I promise it will be there on Monday when Meagan returns to her computer. 🙂
Hey, Sharon!! I found the updated zip file and added it to the download. You should see the photo tutorial now. 🙂
When i hit download is comes up saying
Do you want to download “Crepe-Paper-Gum-Tree-Eucalptus.zip?
I hit that and it just goes back to beginning
Ever since i upgraded I’m having trouble downloading. I’ve tried to sign up for flower aranging and i can’t get in there either
You are all set and registered for the flower arranging class.
For the downloads, it will not show up in the browser window with these zipped files. If you say yes to the download, check your download folder and it will be there. Here is a video where I demonstrate. Let me know if you are still having trouble. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/lessons/1-lia-griffith-files-for-the-cricut/
I just finished cutting the parts for this project. In order to have only the dark green on the top side and light green on the underside, I cut one mat with dark green up and a second identical with the light green up equivalent to cutting a mirror image. As the SVG stands now, you cannot assemble a leaf entirely dark green on the top side and light green on the underside. Hope this is helpful.
I will pass this on to Meagan. And. . . brilliant workaround. 😉
Hi! I downloaded the template but I don’t see the tutorial. Did I miss something? Thank you!
The tutorial will be added after the live video on the 21st. This is a special member make event project. 🙂
Sorry but where do I find the templates?
Everything is in one download. You can find the download button at the end of each post. The file is zipped, which you can open once it is on your computer by double-clicking. Let me know if that makes sense. 😉
Very excited to be making a flower we love over here in Oz. Have just returned from a 3 month trip in our caravan and was keen to try to make one myself as we saw them every where. Can’t wait for the class. Thanks Lia.
See you there!!
Dear Lia ,Megan and Team , it was a pleasent surprise to see your gum flowers . Being from Far North Queensland we don’t get many gum tree flowers up this way as it being tropical . We get the odd one but not many as it is to wet for a lot of them . We do have a rainbow gum it has very pretty bark . Thank you as you have made an older Aussie “s heart skip a beat .
Regards Donna
Awwww. We are in love with this project, and I hope it brings you more joy with you make it. 😉
