With their bold blooms and intricate layers, Dahlias have long been revered for their beauty. But there's more than meets the eye where these lovely flowers are concerned. The iconic Dahlia boasts a rich history and deep cultural significance in Latin America, particularly in Mexico. In fact, they were cultivated by the Aztecs centuries ago, valued for both their beauty and medicinal properties. Today, the Dahlia symbolizes strength, elegance, and unwavering creativity. So, as you craft, think of your Dahlia as a reminder to tap into your own creative fire and embrace your inner artist!
So, remember to mark your calendars, gather your supplies, and get ready to unleash your creativity with our May Member Make workshop: Crepe Paper Jumbo Dahlia. Together, we'll celebrate the beauty of Latin America and the timeless art of crafting -- one petal at a time. Also, be sure to share your creation with us in our crafters' community or on Instagram with the hashtag #MemberMake.

I am trying to figure out how to download SVG files of Crepe paper flowers from your book. I have the code from the book, but I can not figure out how to download them so I can cut them out on my Cricut
Hello Robin! There is a url in the book, but here it is for you https://liagriffith.com/crepepaperflowers/
You can then just add your password into the field. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions. 🙂
We have a free cutting chart that might be helpful too: https://liagriffith.com/cricut-cutting-chart/
Is the template missing instructions for the green center fring? It says x1 but Megan used 2 and hers were much longer in length.
Thanks!
P.S. I was squeezing in some crafting before heading to the July 4th parade. My family is thankful that I need to take a break from this beautiful flower 😉
Hi Kyle! Meagan is out on holiday for a few weeks but I would go with what the video shows. Sometimes we do make typos. 😉
Thank you for the reply. I don’t think the video describes how long the fringe should be or whether it’s streched ahead of time. Based on what I can see, I’m guessing 2 pieces of 4x the pattern and no stretch ahead of time. Does that seem right?
On the PDF template, it shows a fold line and marked X2 which means you will need two of the double width. You will not need to stretch these ahead of time. Hope that helps.
Thank you! Thats very helpful. I checked my color template and it says X1 and no indication of a fold line. I’ll go download what must be an updated template.
It might be easy to miss. We use dotted lines for folds.
What size do you enlarge the petals and other parts. Thanks
The template is at the correct size for the larger flower so you should not need to enlarge anything. 🙂
I am new member, I love the big flowers but I haven’t seen tropical flowers, frangipani, bird of paradise. I just love them all.thanks Deborah ( Australia
We have all of these in a crepe version!! (Actual size). Here is my favorite frangipani: https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-plumeria-flower/ and a gorgeous bird of paradise: https://liagriffith.com/heavy-crepe-paper-bird-of-paradise/. We also have the Australian eucalyptus: https://liagriffith.com/heavy-crepe-paper-bird-of-paradise/
Here is a link for a few other tropical flowers: https://liagriffith.com/search/tropical+flowers
I am not seeing the video for this. Will it be put up or should I just follow the photo tutorial? Thank you!
That is odd. It was there last Friday. . . and now again. Let me know if you can see if now. 🙂
I would love to see the Zinnia live! The dogwood is lovely but the zinnia seems more complex.
That is the one with the most votes, so yes!
These turned out gorgeous!! …and I hope to see the zinnia as the next MM, but the dogwood is lovely too!
Yay! Happy you enjoyed. We will announce on Crafters community today!
Hello Lia,
Why is there no PDF template for jumbo dahlia? My iPhone will not let me download Zip.
Regards Janette
The PDF and tutorial are both in the zipped file. Here is the link for using zips with the iPhone. https://support.apple.com/en-us/102532
Zinnias
Thanks for the vote!
If you’re still taking votes, I loved both of them but it looks like the zinnia would be harder to make with just a photo tutorial. I love you guys!!!
Thanks, Charlene! Your vote is in!!
Wow these giant flowers look so cool! I just got all my supplies and would like to cut pattern on my Cricut, but it’s way too big. Has anyone divided up the mats so we don’t change the size? I’m using original Maker. I would like to get things ready. Thanks!
Hi Carmen. If you hide the designer notes layer, the template will fit. A note from Meagan, they are super easy and faster to cut by hand, but you can certainly use the Cricut. 😉
Thanks I’ll give it a try. They look great!
I am soooo excited for these. I’ve promised three so far. I’m glad I read the comments, just ordered more paper. I really can’t wait for member make. I may even take the day off to watch live.
We fixed the bundle to include three of the two brighter colors. 😉
I’m so excited to make this jumbo dahlia! I’m trying to use materials I already have in my stash… I have a lot of heavy crepe in Plum and Merlot/Bordeaux. I think the Plum might be the best choice between the two. What color pan pastel would you recommend if I use either of these colors?
I love darker dahlias! Perfect choice. Maybe make one of each. 😉 I would use a bright pink pastel to make the centers really pop. That with the bright green and darker petals. . . so pretty.
Hi Lia and team, will the member make bundle provide enough crepe paper to make all three dahlias? Thank you. Coleen Barnes
Yes! The two of the two fold packs (3-4 folds) of each color will make one giant flower. 🙂
Hi! The link for the Member Make bundle doesn’t seem to be working.
Thank you
Gina
I think it is fixed now. 🙂
Excited to make these. Have not make any large flowers before. Beautiful colors.Thanks.
I am too! We are definitely hanging these in our studio. 🙂
