Father’s Day is coming up in a couple of weeks! If you need a good gift idea, our felt and leather baskets are perfect for the practical Dad. Plus you can make them even more special by adding another gift inside. Browse our Father’s Day DIY gifts page for ideas. Or just add something store-bought that you know he’ll love, like specialty chocolates, a cool candle, or a pack of coffee.
Craft one basket or a few of them—in felt or leather—and in the colors your Dad likes. All you’ll need are a couple of tools, the materials you want to make your baskets out of, and our DIY template below.
Perfect for Practical Dads
These mini felt and leather baskets are a great way to use your creativity to craft something thoughtful and useful for Dad. They’re also super easy to make. If you have a Cricut Maker, you can use our SVG file below. Or you can cut the pattern by hand with our printable PDF pattern.
Once you’ve made your felt and leather baskets, you can add some small gifts inside. If you like the idea of having another handmade gift in your baskets, you could add our Father’s Day mug, a cute photo frame of the two of you, or a simple wallet.

Neither of those settings worked on my maker. However if anyone is making this project, I used a burlap setting and it worked ok, still needed a craft knife to finish it up. The wool felt boxes look very nice!
Thank you for the update!
what setting on the maker is used for the 3mm felt? I’ve experimented with a few settings and its not cutting through.
We’ve had success with the “Felt, Wool Fabric” setting. Or you can try “Felt, Wool Bonded” but switch the tool to the rotary blade as it will ask for the regular blade.
MMMM, FUN PROJECT, BUT MUCH CHEAPER TO BUY THEM ALREADY MADE.
Possibly, but depends on your materials. We used genuine leather that was purchased with a coupon code so that one was made for under $10 🙂
