These Painted Paper Spun Speckled Eggs are so easy to make, and they’re appropriate for all skill levels — even your kiddos! However, we do recommend letting an adult take over when it’s time to use the awl. Other than that, with just a few materials and a sprinkle of imagination, you can whip up a batch of these beauties in no time.
The tradition of decorating eggs dates back centuries and is a major springtime staple across many cultures. In fact, our Painted Paper Spun Speckled Eggs are inspired by the Swedish tradition of Påskris. In Sweden, homes are adorned with birch branches decorated with colorful feathers and ornaments to create an Easter Tree. Our speckled eggs capture that same spirit, bringing a touch of nature’s artistry indoors.
To begin, simply paint your eggs with the base color of your choice, then let your imagination run wild as you add speckles and splatters to mimic the natural beauty of real eggs. Experiment with different brush sizes and techniques to achieve the perfect speckled effect. Once your eggs are painted to perfection, you can apply a thin coat of Mod Podge for a bit of shine and protection.
Whether you hang them on a branch in true Scandinavian style or arrange them in a decorative bowl, we want to see your Painted Paper Spun Speckled Eggs! So, remember to snap a pic or two of your Easter creations and share them in our crafters’ community. Want to share them on Instagram? Be sure to tag us using the hashtag #MadeWithLia.
