This is my all time favorite flower. I started following you YEARS ago! I fell in love with is pattern and have made quite a few. i am recently retired and have more time to spend crafting. i joined the Craft Circle and m loving ALL of the classes. Thank you so much for your passion about paper flowers! and sharing your patterns and the videos!
Thank you for this note, Sheri! I love hearing all of it. We have a fun online event coming up for you this month, hope to see you there. 🙂
Hi Lia, I would love to make some of these Rose flowers for my daughters bridal shower. Could you please tell me what kind of paper you used to make them. You mentioned in your video that it needed to be double sided but most of the card stock I see is one sided. Is there a certain kind of paper that you use. Yours also looks a lot softer than card stock. Do you sell it on your site. I would like to purchase a soft ivory white or pearl white if possible. Thank you.
Hi Denise! You actually print the pattern on one side, and the full color wash on the back in order to make it double-sided. This project is a few years old, and I now choose to use text weight frosted paper. PaperPapers.com has a great selection!
Dear Lia, I am planning on purchasing my first month membership to your lovely site. I absolutely love working with wool felt, and your wall hanging succulent boxes drew me in. However, my first project is going to be several paper roses to mix with real flowers for a book-themed baby shower. I definitely want to use paper with text on it. Where do you suggest I purchase the paper – I know you said you prefer Paper-Papers brand of text weight metallic paper, but is it possible to find paper with text on it from that company? Thanks so much!
I think just printing onto regular copy paper is the best idea or this. You really don’t need to the metallic paper if you have text on it. Here is a download you can use to print the text or you can find a book that relates and print it on both sides of the paper. https://liagriffith.com/vintage-book-page-flowers/
Hello, I was just wondering what paper you are printing on? I tried regular computer printer paper, but when I was curling the petals, the ink scrapped off. Also, the hot glue isn’t sticking to the paper very well. Any suggestions?
Many thanks!
Ankita
I love using Paper-Papers brand of text weight metallic paper for all of my paper flowers! Their paper is gorgeous, and you can find it all online. If your glue is drying too quickly to adhere the petals, I would suggest increasing the heat setting a bit on your glue gun. The hotter the glue, the slower it will dry. I hope this helps!
For just the rose approximately $1.50 per rose if you print on both sides using a laser printer. If you do the full steam add about $1-$1.50 to that for the cost of the floral wire and tape.
Guess it depends on the price of paper you use:-)
Everything you make is wonderful and I appreciate you being so generous sharing your talents with us. You’ve truly been blessed with creativity and talent for making life more beautiful. I know some of your things have cut files for using with Design Space but this one doesn’t. Would it be possible for you to make it available? I have Rheumatoid arthritis throughout my body, but especially in my hands. There’s no way I could cut more than a couple by hand. I would make it myself with your template but I have no idea how. I just got the Cricut Explore for Christmas from my son. My first ever cutting machine. I love it. However, I have no ideat how to make a SVG file. Thanks again for everything you do Lia. May God continue blessing you.
Hi Joyce. The Cricut machine will for sure revolutionize your life, it did mine:-) I offer the svg file to most of my projects for free on my site. Here is a blog post with the rose svg https://liagriffith.com/diy-paper-rose-made-with-a-metallic-paper-long-stemmed-rose-tutorial/
Happy flower making!
Lia,
I will be making these for my further DIL’s wedding bouquet. Any suggestions on how to attach these to flower wire?
Thank you!
S.
Yes, here is the tutorial for that. https://liagriffith.com/make-a-long-stemmed-red-rose-for-your-valentine/
Is there a way I could use the template but insert my own colors? My bride is asking for blue and yellow flowers, and she loves this style!
If you are really good at photoshop you can change the color saturation. I have lots of other templates that doesn’t have the color included in the pattern. Try this one https://liagriffith.com/diy-paper-rose-made-with-a-metallic-paper-long-stemmed-rose-tutorial/
You are my hero….I’m going to try a version of this from the design space.
Yay! Hope you love it!

MARAVILLOSA
Thanks!
Is wonderful 🙂 but pls, what paper is it and what is the weigth of the paper? thanks
I used a text weight copy paper that was printed on both sides with a laser printer. Does that help?
I have just discovered you and am enjoying your creativity very much. I look forward to when I can find time to make some of your great projects.
So happy you are here Julia!!
These are great, I am making a wreath to place on top of a 50th gift for my mother-in-law. Thank you Lia for being a constant source of inspiration. xo
That sounds gorgeous. She will love it!
Oh perfect! Thanks so much for posting this, I’ve been looking for a tutorial exactly like this to make a small bunch of roses for Valentines Day from old maps of places that are special to us. This is perfect to finish the idea! Beautiful.
Wonderful! They will be beautiful!
Lovely roses – thank you so much for sharing.
You are so welcome Vivien!
Wonderful creations! You make it look so easy. I’ll try making these too. Thank you.
Thanks Arunya! They are fun and amazingly easy. 🙂
These are fantastic! I’m using them for my wedding! Have you ever thought of making a template for gardenias?
Hi Jamie. As a matter of fact I have! Here is the link to that template: https://liagriffith.com/diy-paper-gardenia/
Is this some kind of special paper or a ordinary one like print paper?
For these I just use printer paper with a laser printer. Others on my blog have been made from a text weight metallic paper.
Omg I just love these I can’t wait to make them with my grandkids I think they will have a great time I will handle the glue gun. Thank you so much for sharing. I just love, love the dresses you made from paper too………I bet it took a long time to make those do you ever share a pattern for them I bet a lot of people would buy them. Thanks again love all your work
Thanks Mary! The grandkids will love paper crafting with you. The dresses are totally made up as I go so a pattern would be impossible. Haha.
I make coffee filter roses which do turn out beautiful, but very fiddley! The ones I see here are both beautiful and easy.
I must make these soon.
Thank you so much for the tutorial !
They are very easy and a great addition to you coffee filter roses for sure.
I love theses flowers. can they be made small enough to use in my scrap booking or card making I do.
Sure. As small as your fingers can work. You can just print the templates at a small percentage.
Hey, what kind of paper you use in this video?
I used a simple printer paper in text weight. It is shiny from the laser printer. Any paper will work just not card stock as it does not curl smoothly.
I absolutely love these but I have such a difficult time free handing the template for myself! I was wondering if you could maybe upload it or send it to me? I am looking to make some of these for our Senior Prom this year!
Thank you!
I can’t believe how nice these come out just from paper! Speaking of paper, what sort of paper was it printed on?
They are amazingly real looking. I used a letter weight printer paper on a laser printer.
What can be done if my printer doesn’t print on both sides at the same time?Love all your paper roses.
Print one side then turn the paper over and print side two. 🙂
Stunning! You make it look so easy.
Haha. Thanks! I think they are easy, but then I have made hundreds by now. 😉
thats awesome
Hope it inspires. 🙂
Thank you for sharing Hugs!
You are so welcome!
