Today we are doing a bit of a flash back, both by using vintage books to make book page flowers and because this paper rose pattern is my very first paper flower I designed for all of you. It is an oldie but goodie, don’t you think? I remember the days back then when I cut hundreds if not thousands of petals all by hand where now days I use my handy Circut Explore to do the cutting and keep the making to the curling and shaping of the flowers themselves.
For these vintage book roses, I actually printed my book pages since the fragile old papers do not do so well with the sticky mat of the cutting machine. You can download our book page prints below and use your inkjet or a laser printer to cover both sides of your text weight white paper. They are now ready to either cut by hand or for your cutting machine. You will also find a PDF template and the SVG for the cutting machine below. The PDF can be printed onto card stock and used to outline on your old book pages. For the full step-by-step video tutorial check here, and a photo tutorial on how to make these easy and gorgeous roses, you can pop over to this post. Make sure and come back later today for your chance to win a Lia Griffith Bundle Teal Cricut Explore. Cheers! ~ Lia

[…] before making my own. So in order to give credit where credit is due: Water Color Paper Rose and Vintage Book Page Flowers are both pages you should check […]
Hi Lia–I made these the other day and they were gorgeous! I added a gold stripe with a paint pen around the edges of the petals to add a little sparkle 🙂 Can you tell me where you got the black and white striped ribbon?
Ooh yay, I love to hear what people have made! I purchase ribbon on my travels (I’m a ribbon addict!) but I also like May Arts Ribbon for online purchases. You should be able to find a similar black and white striped ribbon there. Good luck and thanks for getting in touch! Lia
Great, thanks so much!
🙂

Hi. That s absolutly beautiful.
May I ask what kind of paper you used?
Thank you
Just a simple printer paper will work.
Lia,
I was able to print the template, but I wasn’t able to open the second file. Are there directions on how to put this together?
Thanks.
Yes absolutely, there is a link to a video https://liagriffith.com/paper-rose-video-tutorial/ and a photo step-by-step tutorial https://liagriffith.com/diy-paper-rose-made-with-a-metallic-paper-long-stemmed-rose-tutorial/ The second file is a SVG that you would use with a personal cutting machine like a Cricut Explore. Hope that makes sense:-)
Absolutely beautiful
🙂

You are welcome. Enjoy!
Love this bouquet! Thank you for the files, Lia!
You are welcome!
Boy, do I miss my Cricut (my last one died after three years of daily use). Hundreds of thousands of cuts.
I look at these lovely flowers and dream of the day that I can buy the new Explore. No more handout petals – what a dream!

Yesss! I helped a friend make all of the flowers for her wedding out of old book pages, but we didn’t make any that looked quite like this. Love the beautiful design of these!
