This very beginner-friendly Papercut Sardines Card is an easy project and a fun craft activity for your little makers. It’s a great way to add a splash of color and a sprinkle of humor to someone’s day. To keep all your elements nice and even as you craft, we recommend using your cutting machine.
Although they may not be everyone’s favorite, sardines have been a pantry staple for generations. They’re inexpensive and accessible, though how tasty they are remains debatable. While packed tightly in their tins, they add a little something extra to several dishes and are enjoyed as a quick, energy-boosting snack all over the world.
To match the cheeky tone and playful energy of this project, we wanted to keep the colors bright and fun. We used a vibrant, summery palette of cardstock and brought the little fish to life with a few colored-pencil details.
Speaking of details, one of our favorites for this Papercut Sardines Card is that you can choose to glue the sardines inside the tin or keep them loose and just tuck them in. If you add a cute little note on the back of your fish, that’ll add another layer of surprise for your recipient when they slide the sardines out. It’s almost like sending a message in a bottle — but much cuter.
As with all of our papercraft projects, we hope you take your time and get into the rhythm of assembling each piece with skill and care. So grab your cardstock, pencils, and glue, and get ready to show us your Papercut Sardines Card using #MadeWithLia. Happy crafting!
