The holidays mean tons of delicious pie options. And here at the studio, we will be the first to say that we can’t wait! Personally, my all-time favorite pie is pumpkin pie. It’s also definitely a crowd favorite in the studio! To encourage you to spread some yummy pie love, we created these DIY pie slice boxes. You can use them as gifts and favors—or as the perfect to-go container after a fall dinner party.
Easy as Pie
Sometimes we get a little carried away adding adorable accents to projects, and this project was no exception. These pie boxes are designed to look like slices of pumpkin pie, plus we added dollops of paper whipped cream that you can attach to the top.
And of course the pie slice boxes would not be complete without a cute set of gift tags. We used our PIXMA MG7720 Wireless Photo All-in-One Printer to print the designs onto 8.5″x11″ white cardstock. You certainly do not want to use anything lighter than cardstock because it will not be sturdy enough! Next, cut out the designs and assemble with glue, a glue dot roller, or double-sided tape.
The beauty of these pie slice boxes is how easily you can style them. The crust piece is optional, but we find it to be pretty irresistible. To add whipped cream, trim the template and fold it with all the tabs facing the same way.
Finally, finish off your gift pie with one of the fall themed gift tags in the download. Tape it right to the box, or punch a hole in the tag and use baker’s twine to wrap the tag to the box.

Hello Lia,
I love this craft so much!
I would like to make it for the children in my class.
Do you maybe have a template for the whip cream?
Hello! What a sweet idea. 🙂 The whip cream is in both the PDF template and SVG file downloads, right above this comment section.
This is literally the greatest craft I have ever downloaded!
It is a cutie!
I’m also having trouble with the whip cream! Is there a video of someone putting it together anywhere?
If you look at the last photo you can see how the pieces fold together. If you fold each piece and rotate to the left so the larger bump covers the smaller, then tuck the last piece under so you get a full rotation, you will have a full whipped cream piece.
How can I find out how to cut this on my Cricut maker?
Hi Melinda,
We have a great video showing you how to use your cricut to cut SVG files, check it out! https://liagriffith.com/how-to-use-svg-files-for-cricut/

I can’t seem to figure out how to fold the whipped cream to make it look like the picture. I’m thinking it can’t be too hard – but I can’t figure it out for the life of me! Help!
Hi Susan! The whipped cream is actually much easier to make than it looks! After cutting out the cream (make sure you cut the 2 little notch lines too), fold along the dotted lines inward. From there, overlap each small bump on the spiral toward the center, pushing down lightly in the center to “lock” the pieces into place with those little notches. The puff will pop up a bit and tah-dah, it’s done! You can kind of see how it’s done in the last photo in the post.
This is charming
Thanks!! 🙂
This is great! So charming!!
Thanks, I think so, too! 🙂
AWESOME!!!! You are the best! Thank you so much!! I don’t like hand cutting anything!!
You’re so welcome! We understand 🙂
I was wondering if this is going to be made into an SVG file?
We just updated the downloads to include a template PDF as well as an .SVG. 🙂
Thank you
You’re so welcome!
