Rollin’ with the Gnomies
These miniature mythical sprites are meant to serve as protectors for the home or farmstead. Though they have a tendency to stir up some good-natured mischief every now and then! Channel some legendary charm and craft up a few of these characters to keep watch over your own home this holiday season.
How To Make Pom-Pom Gnome Ornaments
- Gather the tools and materials listed above. Then download the pattern at the end of this post.
- Make pom poms using an extra small pom-pom maker and white acrylic yarn. Trim the edges.
- Cut hats out of the felt according to the pattern.
- Use white embroidery floss to embroider the hats according to our embroidery guide. A washable/air dry fabric marker is helpful for drawing on your design as a guide for stitching. For a child-friendly version, use fabric paint for the details.

The small pink Clover pom maker should give you a finished pom pom of 1.25-1.5 inches. This is what Krista used for this adorable project. 😉

HI, can you please let me know how much embroidery floss, felt, twine, and yarn would be needed to make these ornaments? For example how much would be needed for 2o or 40 ornaments?
Hi Shannon! We haven’t made 20 or 40 so unfortunately can’t give you the exact amounts for those quantities. There are quite a few variables but I would imagine 2 skeins of each white yarn and white floss would be enough, and you can get 8-20 hats from felt depending on the felt sheet size you purchase.
I make crafts as gifts every Christmas for friends. I find it’s much for personal than purchasing gifts. I signed up for your monthly service after picking out your gnome to make. I thought there would be complete information listed regarding quantities needed. I sent an email as well. I just don’t want to have to run out of supplies and have to reorder and maybe not complete all the gifts. Also, I would order everything, and then reorder everything again just to know the quantities. Usually the instructions come with how much you need.

After looking over the project we would suggest that you will need about 2 skeins of embroidery floss, 2 balls of yarn, and 3 sheets of 12×18 felt to make 40 ornaments.
I don’t have computer to download this Do you have the capability to sell a kit which would contain instructions, materials etc?
Sorry Vicki, we don’t have a kit available for this project. We do have a few kits in production but not the gnomes.
Love these little guys! I give Christmas ornaments every year and these are going to be perfect for this year.

I would like to see the option to purchase the pattern for something we want to make rather than pay for a full month’s subscription which will include many items we are not interested in. Just a thought …
