Three-DIY-Lace-EarringsIn my 12 Months of Martha box this last month, I found this package of pretty Floral Lace. Seeing this along with the Fabric to Fabric decoupage, I knew that I wanted to use the lace to create some delicate earrings that would be perfect for upcoming summer weddings I plan to attend. Though I originally intended to use just one of the laces, I ended up making a set of earrings with all three and trying different techniques and finishes. The first set I used the decoupage on the back to give the lace some weight and keep the fabric flat. Once dry, I added a pearl bead to the top of the earring and attached earring loop into the edge of the lace. Delicate and lovely! The second set I painted with the Martha Stewart craft paint in Winter Mint and once dry attached them onto a small hoop earring. Very cute! Perfect for a little girl or teen. The third set I masked off the flowers and lightly sprayed the leaves in a soft gold. I did this on both sides and once dry painted the backside with the decoupage. These ended up being my favorite of the three and I attached a tiny gold earring on the top leaf of each lace piece. These earrings are not only perfect for weddings, bride’s maids and your flower girls, you can also give them as a birthday or Mother’s Day gift. Thanks Martha for sending such a great box of craft goodness to inspire a handcrafted lifestyle. ~ Lia
