Become a MemberAs we said in our May inspirational video, we are bringing the tropics to you this month! Since many of us are still staying close to home and not traveling anywhere, we may as well make the best of our outdoor gatherings and celebrations. To help you with this, we have an assortment of tropical party decorations for you that are simple and fun to craft.
Altogether, there are patterns to make cupcake decor, napkin rings, tropical leaves, and a paper flower lei. Because the lei is a bit more involved than the other decorations, we have created a tutorial below just for that project.
Tropical table fun
Whether it’s a birthday, graduation, or baby shower, these tropical party decorations make celebrating at home even more memorable. You could also use them for a tropical staycation — or just to make your family dinner night a little more fun!
For our tropical party decorations, we used a mix of frosted text weight paper and regular text weight paper. Since many of the leaves involve intricate cuts — and there are quite a few decorations you can make — we recommend using a cutting machine. Otherwise, you can use our printable templates to cut by hand.
We would love to see how you use these paper decorations, so be sure to share them with us on our private Facebook page for members or by tagging #MadeWithLia on Instagram.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your designs and creativity!!!!
Thank you Elena!
I would use this Tropical Decor to get my children more involved in my crafting. They enjoy helping with the things they can and they love seeing the beautiful end result! All of this decor is remarkable and I would use it for soooooo many things such as wall art and collage pieces, creating shadow box art, incorporating them in other projects such as my watercolor journal, paint pours, junk journals, stencils for furniture transfer, create tealight/faux candle holders using the leaves, create learning flashcards using the Monstera leaves to give my sons a cool twist on learning new things, and also use them for my resin art. I am even thinking about using the beautiful leaves with different types of materials such as felt and fabric and using it for sewing appliques on some tropical themed beach bags with rope handles I want to make for the summer. I like the idea of using the decor for some adhesive and HTV vinyl creations. Putting different types of vinyl decor on mugs, tshirts, makeup bags, totes, canvas, windows, mirrors, flower pots, tables, phone/tablet cases, and even a car decal! There are just so many awesome ideas and opportunities for this tropical party decor, I can’t wait to get started. Even combining these items with other ones on the website will open up a lot more project ideas to create even more fun and unique things. This single project will give me so much more than party decor, I absolutely love your work and designs. It really helps bring out the crafter in everyone! Every project gives limitless inspiration to myself and my 2 boys (6 and 9). It really helps stretch our imaginations and come up with exciting new projects and fun things to do as a family even if its just dancing around waving around big cutouts of the leaves! Keep up the great work. Happy crafting to all, everyone had such great ideas for this project!
I’m going to surprise my 95 year Mom on Mother’s Day with a tropical dinner by making these beautiful decorations. She usually spends Mother’s Day in Florida but my step-Dad passed away and the Covid-19 virus, she is unable to go. So, I thought I could bring Florida to her. She lives over 400 miles away and I haven’t seen her 5 months. She has no idea I’m coming. Thank you so much for the inspiration and giving me the capability to pull this off.
A fun and new theme to use for my next dinner party with my girlfriends after all the social distancing restrictions are lifted.
I was born in Florida so anything tropical is dear to my heart. Last Friday my family who is scattered across 6-states played Bingo via Zoom. We had so much fun we decided to do it again May 15th. I am going to create a tropical Lei to wear on Bingo night! What fun! Thank you Lia Griffith for all of these GREAT ideas!

I would use the book to celebrate my high school senior’s luau themed graduation party – no matter if we have a bid celebration or if it has to be just the five of us.
My son and daughter in law have birthdays a week apart so we always celebrate them together. A tropical party would be really fun this year.
I would use these great flowers for my first post “social distancing” get together.
Hopefully I win this awesome giveaway prize! My 18th birthday is coming up soon and *hopefully* this be amongst my collection of crepe paper and patterned paper soon!
Aw, happy early birthday!
I am so new to paper crafting and have so much to learn. Love all of your ideas! I do not have a cutting machine yet but I am saving my money for one and see it in my future.
Thank you so much! The book also includes PDF templates so you can still make the projects without needing a cutting machine, but I will say that having a cutting machine makes cutting any detailed patterns much easier!
What a wonderful giveaway! Tropical themed patio party in the planning for our dear three neighboring households. I so look forward to live entertaining again. Hopefully soon. Counting my blessings now though. Thank you.
Thanks, Shirl! A tropical-themed patio party for your neighbors sounds lovely.
Love these, I would have a wonderful summer party for my daughter whose Birthday is in July.
This month I have a “milestone” birthday! I am retired now and I am loving all your designs and flowers! I would love to have this book as a birthday present and be able to use the designs to create little pieces of paradise for my family and friends. I love to bake and use all different kinds of paper craft to help showcase the baked goods.
Thank you so much! What day is your birthday? I want to make sure we email you our birthday gift for members!
I’d love to have this in my library. But regardless of who the lucky recipient may be, the pictures alone should bring a real sense of peace and subtle beauty in a time when there is all too much ugly happening with COVID19. There is much healing in this book.
Thank you, Betsy! What a wonderful comment for us to hear. Hope you are staying safe and healthy!
Hi, Betsy! We have randomly selected you as one of the winners of this book! Email hello@liagriffith.com and we’ll get it shipped out to you.
Patio decor!! Perfect timing as the weather is perfect for a party outside and these ideas for decorations will work out perfectly! As always, you bring ideas for all of us to enjoy.
Sounds perfect and so glad you are enjoying our ideas!
Perfect! Our own little paradise on earth! We’ve planned a distance party fir our Mom on Mother’s Day with this gorgeous theme to decorate her window when we visit at her elder care facility. It’s soothing tropical feel gives us all just the joy we need!
That sounds like a lovely way to celebrate!
These decorations are beautiful! I agree with most would definitely use when have a get together with friends and family after isolation is over!!
Thank you! I hope we all get to have that soon!
These would be such fun decorations for a celebration party when we are finally released from isolation! Thanks so much for all the wonderful ideas and inspiration!
You are so welcome! Glad you are enjoying them 🙂
These are great! I may try them with felt for a little party or theme night.
I love all of your flowers. My latest project is a variety of “wrist corsages” for my mother for Mother ‘s Day. I noticed when I was visiting her in Florida back in March that she had a flower decorating the front bar of her walker. I thought what a perfect opportunity to make a bunch of different options for her to jazz up her walker. Thanks for keeping me busy crafting flowers.
Thank you so much, Kathy! That is such a lovely idea for your mom. Did you see our new wrist corsage in our May Craft Collection?
My family has 10 birthdays in May. This would be a great way to make the parties fun – even if we have to do it at a distance
Wow! Hope all of them have a wonderful birthday!
I would be so grateful to receive this book. 😊
I used the flower garland “lei” last year to decorate a dreary space for a confirmation celebration- your lovely designs helped make the space “bishop ready”!!! Thank you so much for the beautiful crafts – I would love to receive this book and would continue to use it to decorate my home and bring some flowers into our lives when the weather does not permit them outside!
I love that! Did you see we have a new paper flower lei in our May Craft Collection?
Now there is a need to sew now with the virus.
Everyone needs a mask, so need to help friends & family by making the masks.
Love all the ideas that Lia and her team comes up with.
Going to renew my membership today.

Thank you so much, Shirley! We are so glad to have you as a member.
My son’s graduation present was supposed to be a beach trip. But now there not only isn’t a trip…there isn’t a graduation ceremony. I’m using these to decorate for a family only graduation dinner so we can dream about the beach!
So sorry to hear that, Cynthia! We have been talking about how sad it is for kids to miss out on these big moments. We’re glad you can still get together as a family to celebrate! If you haven’t seen our graduation page, we have some other crafts you might like: https://liagriffith.com/craft/kids/graduation-crafts/.
Wow, awesome! Those designs are so pretty and I would love to try some of them.
My family usually entertains quite a bit (pool parties, mostly), but recently we’ve been unable to due to Covid-19. We have come up with some creative things to do with neighbors, like host Zoom happy hours each Friday. Last Friday we made burgers for each family (with masks and gloves on) and delivered to each door. Then we met on Zoom for a virtual “cookout.” I would use these decorations to make it a virtual luau next time. Maybe deliver some Hawaiian pork sliders or some Mai Tais. Love the tropical look!
That is amazing! Where do you live and are there any houses for sale nearby?! Only kidding of course. That sounds like a wonderful and supportive community to live in. If you use any of our DIY decor for your Zoom happy hours in the future, you will have to share pictures!
That’s a great idea! I will definitely share photos. And I live in Austin – come on down! 😂

Hi, Dee-Ann! We have randomly selected you as one of the winnners! If you email hello@liagriffith.com, we’ll get a book shipped out to you.
I just started making flowers with crepe paper! So much to learn. My daughter and I would have fun with these tropical flowers. We are remodeling our kitchen and it would be fun to add some fun flowers or have a fun dinner party for family and friends.
So exciting! Feel free to reach out anytime if you have questions. Hope your remodel goes well!
Our family has missed so many celebrations already this year due to covid 19 that we are planning a party (when safe again) to celebrate everything we missed. These would make great decorations and party souvenirs!
So sorry to hear that! I think everyone is planning to have one big party in the future to celebrate all of these missed events!
I love the tropical decor and would make such fun decorations for my 50th birthday!
Happy early birthday!
They are all so pretty and I love the colors used. I wold make these projects for decorations for a summer party.
I would use these beautiful ideas for our first neighborhood long table, outdoor dinner. Thank you!
For a May Birthday celebration.
These would be the perfect decorations and accessories to a patio party to celebrate the end of quarantine.
I Love these suggestions. I belong to a Non-Profit Org. and we have fund raisers and also social gatherings for our members. This is a great idea for a get together, whether it be for fund raisers or a fun member recruitment. Love your posts and ideas. Thank you.
These tropical decorations are fabulous. I would like use them to host a Pandemic Paradise Party for my family and a few close friends out on the patio , wearing fancy face masks using Lia’s pattern from her latest video!
I LOVE tropical decor, plants, prints, all of it! I think I would transform our boring breakfast nook into a tropical paradise. My family can have an at-home luau!
I’m so inspired by the color pallet used for the tropical theme!
So glad to hear that! We have been having fun coming up with a new color palette each month 🙂
Christmas in July! I live quite distant from my children- and therefore only see them and my precious grandkids only twice a year- when we’re not all in isolation! Last November- I declared “Christmas in July” so that they would all be out of school and could gather together at our house. Canadian winter travel and cattle care in the cold have been factors that have prevented us from being together for so many Christmas’s! My Grandkids are so excited to have a “Hawaiian Christmas “ like Muana! The cool tropical theme this book offers would bring this celebration over the top for them ( and this old Oma) Thanks for the chance to participate and win such a sweet prize! Have a Beautiful Day- and stay Safe and Healthy! Sincerely- LauraB Baxter
What a great idea! That sounds like so much fun for your whole family. Hope you are staying safe and healthy as well!
Good May Morning,
This is such a wonderful site, thank you all for what is so obvious an act of passion. I boxed up my painted tulips and Mom card, the one with all the flowers and greenery popping out of the surface, and sent it off to my Mom. It was so beautiful laying in the box that I keep returning to it in my minds eye for a rest and a smile.
Just now I tried to enter a comment for the giveaway but I cannot. I do not know if it was an error on my end or a site problem. In case of the latter I am letting you know so you can look into it.
God Bless
Thank you so much! That is so lovely — thank you for sharing with us!
I would use these for my best friends birthday party. She is obsessed with tropical leaves, mostly Monstera plants!
Aw, we love tropical leaves too. Not sure if you’ve seen our May Craft Collection yet, but we have some new monstera leaf projects in there!
Thank you got going this fab giveaway. If I were to make the fabulous tropical decor I’d use it to set the theme for my July wedding aniversary. After 34 years together it’s always difficult to come up with new ideas for our special meal and this would just rock the socks off of anything I’d done before
You’re welcome! That would be so amazing for an anniversary celebration. Congrats on 34 years together!
