Using Paper Mums to Make This Gorgeous Fall Wreath
To welcome in Fall this year, I planned to make a lush flower wreath for my front door. I chose the paper in antique gold, coppers, plums and purples (ruby & punch), all in a metallic finish text weight paper from paper-papers.com. It was after I made the fall mum wreath that I thought maybe I need to make two. . . one for the front door and another for a centerpiece. I am loving this wreath filled with tall pillar candles in the center of my dinner table. This wreath is easy to make, much simpler than it looks. If you have a Silhouette cutter, you can import the pattern for your cuts there. Once all the flowers and leaves are trimmed assembling the blooms is quite simple. You can refer to another version of this flower’s tutorial in this post to see how they are made with stems. I used a 12 inch wreath form that I purchased at Michaels for the 24 finished flower and 24 leaves. The results are stunning! Below is the step-by-step tutorial for the wreath and you can download the mum and leaf template at the end of the post. Enjoy! ~ Lia

Could you tell me the names of the
colors of the paper you used for this project? Also, the Ruby color paper you have used in other projects, is that a deep purple color? If not which one is? I am looking for a deep purple, like a plum color, as I am making my daughters bouquet for her wedding coming in October. It is so hard to tell when looking online. Thanks so much!
Hi Judi, I used: antique gold, copper, ruby and punch, fairway and botanic. Ruby is the darker purple, punch is the lighter color 🙂
Hi Lia, love your paper flowers! I just joined and can’t wait to start crafting ( long winters in Maine) I especially love the Fall Paper Flowers Kit ( due to arthritis in my wrist) Is there another way to purchase the Kit? Jo Ann won’t allow online purchase and they don’t have it in my local store which is three hours away.
Thank you for your help
Judith
Thank you Judith, and welcome! Unfortunately the kits in JoAnn stores are selling out and won’t be restocked (exciting for us, but sad for our fans who haven’t been able to purchase!) You might be able to call one of the stores closest to you and see if they’ll ship to you? Most of the projects in our kids were inspired by projects on this site, so if you search you’ll find very similar prints and patterns.
Hey Lia! Do you have an SVG file for your mums?
Hi Liz! I only have the spider mum SVG available but have the regular mum on my list to create 🙂
Can I just ask where you get all your wonderful paper from?
Hi Chloe. They are from paper-papers.com There is a link in the post.
Awwh. I see thank you very much, I find your work absolutly amazing! I have a Fashion student and I have descide to base my idea on Paper Couture cause I love love love it! Thank you for making this easy website on making these fiddly things X
I love those candles- did you buy them with the gold on them or did you make them? If you made them, how did you add the gold? thanks!!
The candles are from Ikea, just their plain white candles. I used sheets of gold foil to add the weathered gold look. It sticks right to the wax without having to do anything.
That’s awesome! I am so going to do that! Thank you 🙂
Another stunner, how do you keep making such outstanding projects? You are so talented and so generous sharing all these incredible projects with us. Thanks so much Lia.
I’ll have to look on that site for the papers you used. It’s not that easy to find quality papers at the craft stores in Grand Junction that I can afford. Happy days ahead.
Thanks JaneEllen! I don’t know how but I know that I wish there were two of me so I could create double time. 😉
Another fantastic project. This is stunning. Thanks for the inspiration (again).
And I hope again and again. 😉
This is gorgeous, Lia! The metallic papers and colors are so elegant and beautiful…they are definitely on my to-order list.
Having made just one mum with you at your handmade flowers class, I know how much work went into this wreath!! The mums are one of my favorite flowers of yours…in fact, I just used one in my caramel apple basket post today (perfect timing!) and linked back this post so that others can see how to make them. 🙂
Lisa
I saw that! It turned out so cute. I will tell you a little secret on how I made that wreath in just a few hours. . . my new Silhouette Cameo. 😉
